Anyone here know anything about wheelchairs, we need something light weight but strong.
My Mother is not taking this well, but she didn't take care of her knee so the day had to come.
Any help would be welcome.

1. Knee replacement is not an option? |
|
I'm only asking because my Gran had one replaced a few years ago, and it feels good as new (in contrast to the one she had replaced 15 years ago with older technology).

2. My mother is being hard headed about it. |
|
She is 83 years old and thinks she is to old for a new knee.
We are going to the Doctor on Monday and we need the chair to get her to the Dr.'s office.
She could have had a new knee years ago but wouldn't do it.
Now she can't walk without great pain.

4. That is a good idea, now if we can float that past my Father. |
|
We are going so he doesn't get the biggest one in the store.
She broke her kneecap years ago and didn't do what the Dr. told her to do.
We kept telling her to get her knee fixed but she wouldn't, now she paying the price.
She has been in pain all these years, if it was me I would have a new knee.
She remembers the pain from the other two operations on her knee and is afaid to go back.
Maybe the fear of going into a home might get her into the hospital.

5. By all means, rent one for now. |
|
There are medical supply places that have all kinds of equipment for rent. Will Medicare pay for it?
Good luck!

7. Try a companion chair if you're just using it for transporting your mom. |
|
Lightweight and flexible. Around $150.

Doesn't she live in an assisted living retirement home? ( I seem to remember you saying that)
Speak to the director there. They may have a wheelchair they could lend you.
Best of luck with your Mom. I know we discussed our Moms before.
As was stated earlier here, she may get very fed up with being wheeled around and decide on the surgery.
Please keep me posted.

have wheelchairs and other medical equipment that can be rented or even borrowed for months at a time. Might be worth your while to call around.
