Ewwww there is a big spider on my celling and nobody home to take care of this situation

Let me just begin by saying I have a HUGE fear of spiders and it's one of the reasons why I don't want to live alone. I came out of the shower and back into my bedroom where I casually glanced up at the celling whereupon I noticed a large spider in the area between my computer desk and closet. So I did what any logical person would do...I grabbed my laptop moved to the other side of the room so I can still keep my eye on it (don't want it in my clothes) and am waiting patiently for someone to return home so that they can take care of it. If it were on the wall or floor I would consider grabbing a boot and going to battle but I don't have anything stable enough to climb up on so I can reach the celling...I don't want to stretch, miss and have a spider in my hair!

Because what also worries me is that it will survive and then hatch little spider babies inside my vacuum and train them to kill so that when I go to dump the dirt out I will be swarmed by millions of little spiders that eat me alive...really I *do* have issues :)

i only vacuum up the big scary ones, the rest i leave alone to do their jobs. Last summer if you were at my house you would have flipped out, there was a california trap door spider in my kitchen, i literally thought i was going to pass out. i will spare you a picture of one as they are horrifying to look at.

It took three lengthening tools on the end of the hose so I could stand far enough away but I got it! If it were in any other room of the house I probably would have ignored it but I can't stand having creepy crawlies in my bedroom...especially on the celling!

Karma is probably going to punish me all day by giving me itchy skin and scalp so I will think that bugs are crawling on me

You *do* realize that in all likelihood that the mandibles on this particular spider on your ceiling couldn't even penetrate the uppermost layer of your skin?

killing the poor little spiders, they are damn useful to have around. of course, i'm the person who gets a jar and an envelope and puts the little guys outside.

i've become the designated spider catcher in my office, you should see me crawling around under the desks to catch the things. i think people are tired of seeing my ass....:rofl:

until they crawl on me. then it's on. i had a basement room for about 14 years when i was living at home, so i've learned to live peacefully with spiders. now moths, on the other hand :scared: i still scream like a little girl when one flies in my face...

and trust me, no one wants to see my ass as often as the people at work have to :P

12. I know you'll think I'm nuts, but---

I try to capture them with a small bowl and a lid ( or stiff cardboard)
and take them outside.

Every so often I find a Daddy longlegs in my shower after I'm in it, taking the shower !
They are harmless and eat black widows,( or is it aphids?) or so I've heard.
I still try to catch the web string, lift it up, wrap a towel around myself and get it outside.

Although, my time in S.F. city apartments taught me to smush cockroaches with my bare hands, I never kill spiders.
