The Catchiest Song You've Never Heard
"The Yip Song" by Robyn Hitchcock

The rockin'-n'-rollin' original on the 1992 album "Respect" is great (he's backed up by the Egyptians) but the acoustic solo version on "Storefront Hitchcock" (the soundtrack from Jonathan Demme's concert film) is pretty damn great too. A sample of the lyrics:

This old man, he was flesh
They wheeled him in upon a trolley...

Cleanse us with your healing grin
Septicemia always wins...

I believe in surgery and that's a fact...

5. 867-5309
definately.

Singer/Songwriter Mark Weigle (one of the best damn folk rock artists you've never heard of) has a gay cover of that on his latest CD "Different and the Same."

It's called "867-5309/Jimmy."
