2. Serkis is a master
The Academy should disband until it manages to regain relevance and catches up to the modern world if it doesn't give him the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

I don't care if he was CGI'd. Every facial expression, every movement was his, the animators simply mapped Gollum onto him. If he doesn't deserve it, then Hoffman should give back his awards for Tootsie, what with all that make up and prosthetics and stuff.

6. On the Eextended Edition there is some remarkable side-by-side footage
Just incredible, the union of actor and animation.

9. Yes, i think he should
I love the commentaries and documentaries about making Gollum, and how after Serkis showed up and started acting like Gollum, the character changed,a dn Jackson and team's entire approach to Gollum changed. They all had high, high praise for what Serkis did.

As do I. I think he deserved an oscar, or least a very special nod from the academy.

4. Frodo failed...
"Together, my lord Sauron, we shall rule this Middle-Earth. The old world will burn in the fires of industry. The forests will fall. A new order will rise. We will drive the machine of war with the sword and the spear, and the iron fists of the orc."

5. I've said it before, and will say it again: Shrub is NOT Sauron
Shrub is NOT the one in charge. If it's anyone, it's either his dad or Cheney.

Shrub is Saruman at best, but I wouldn't even go that high with him.

8. Yes, I was thinking that
He's more the sniveler who enjoys being around power and exercising whatever power his authorities will offer him, but never smart enough or driven enough to actually wield power to his own gain, except short-term, instant-gratification style.

11. Rotten nasty fanses!
Rabrrrrrr went to the signing, yes he did, even gots there an hour early, didn't he, precioussss? Yessssss, and it was already full of filthy johnny-come-latelies so precious had to stand for an hour waiting, didn't he? Yesssssss. Gollum. Gollum.

The place was packed - I figured getting there an hour early would work just fine - it worked for Al Franken and Neal Stephenson. But golly heck, the seating area - and it must seat 400-500 people was plum filled up, plus there were a few hundred already standing around.

Good talk by Serkis, though he only went for about a half hour. He read a bit from his book, answered some questions, and also did, live, the bit from Two Towers when Gollum is talking to himself. Fantastic!!

That alone was worth the wait. But I did not get the book to have him sign it, since I was sure I'd be standing in line for close to two hours to get it signed. I'm very disappointed about that, but I wasn't so keen on the book anyway, so not terribly disappointed.

And even though I had to stand all that time, and was really, really far away, I could at least see him, and it was well worth the wait to hear him speak. Yes, precioussss.
