1. If it is, then I am politically incorrect.
But I don't see why it would be.

2. no, but it is kind of typical
I thought the same thing until I had really good tofu. You have to understand that vegetarians generally have to put up with at least one snarky comment every meal unless they eat alone. Seriously. It's nothing personal.

4. You should move to Madison
I spent my first summer surrounded by vegans, trying to adapt but quietly hunting for meat and diet pepsi. :hide:

3. well then I must be politically incorrect...
because I'd rather eat the erasers off the ends of pencils...which I would assume have a similar taste

5. You just haven't found the way you like it yet.
Saying you don't like tofu is like saying you don't like flour. It all depends on what you do with it.

I've had some I hated and some I've loved. I could make you things (like a tofu cheesecake) that you would never know it was tofu.

6. It MUST be crispy, or I can't eat it
The texture changes if it's crisped. Uncrisped? *shudder*

7. To take offense over someone's disliking of a particular food item,
is both laughable and pathetic.

8. I'm a vegetarian and I'm not crazy about tofu.
Once in a blue moon I'll have it, but not often.

9. Disliking tofu is not a violation of someone else's civil rights.
End of story. B-)

12. It's only politically incorrect not to like onions and garlic.
I like tofu but then, I like almost everything. Whether you like it or not isn't an issue I struggle with.

14. Well, if you've only had tofu at the hippy brown rice vegan cafes....
I'll understand. Tofu picks up flavor from other cooking ingredients.

Find a good Thai restaurant & order Pad Thai--without shrimp or meat. It will have crispy tofu on top. And it will usually be delicious.

15. I just can't eat it. no matter how it's prepared...
one type is like eating caulking compound, another is like eating fat cubes.

the problem I find with it. no matter how it's cooked, none of the flavor from the stuff it's cooking permeates the tofu "cube".

It may taste okay on the outside, but once you sink your teeth, blech.

16. nope
I've eaten it and enjoyed it, but only when marinated and grilled. If I have to choose between Tofu and a steak, Tofu lose 10 times out of 10.

Then again, I LOVE Lima Beans, so I'm a bit of a sick MoFo anyway:D

17. Of course not.
At the same time, imagine how people would react to a negative post entitled, "Eating meat is like..."

It's certainly not an attack, but it's a little snarky. When you have to handle snark about your personal choices on a fairly regualr basis, well then, it might feel a little unkind.

Y'know?
