I hate taking cats to the vet...
OK, so it was that time of year again, checkups and shots for one of the cats. We spread out the shots, we have 5 cats, so we don't have to pay for them all at once. Anyways, so I took Cocoa into the vet for her shots, she was OK on the way to the vet, she crabbed a lot on the way there, but she didn't fight too much when the vet examined her and gave her shots. After I get home, however, I let her out of the cat carrier, and she gives me this look of HATE like you wouldn't believe. Then, after about 10 minutes of getting home, what does she do, attempt to piss in my bed. I walk into the bedroom, and there she is scratching at a crushed paper bag left on my bed. She pissed in it.

Luckily the bag itself, while crushed flat, was crushed in a way that it was like a shallow bowl, so her piss was right in the center of it, and since I caught it early, it didn't soak through yet. I threw the bag outside in the back yard, but damn is she pissed at me. And I have to take her in for a booster next month for a new distemper virus or something.

In case you are wondering, she's healthy, and at 12 years old, that's nothing to take for granted.

Here's a picture of the little devil.

2. Is she an indoor kitty?
If so, she shouldn't need all those shots.

4. She's mostly indoors...
She hasn't slowed down much, but she likes sunning herself out on the deck in the backyard, and we are having problems, since its spring, with males sniffing around the house. We have 5 female cats, all fixed, but it seems like the males don't care, and they have been fighting with the males.

3. They do have their very effective ways of letting us know...
Don't they?

Good thing you caught her before it got worse!

:hi:

6. Cats are vindictive, aren't they?
They especially hate any change, if I'm out of the house for more than a day, for any reason, my bed is wet when I get home, I've learned to clear cats out of my room and close the door when I'm out. Years ago, she used to hide under my bed, thinking she was being punished when I took her to the vet, I think by now she thinks I just do it to be mean. I don't, obviously, but its hard to tell her that.

5. When our daughter was little, I think she teased our cat.
Never caught her at it, but every once in a while Big Red would go pee in her bed.
They'll get even.

7. I feel your pain.
I have a semi-feral who is tame enough to play with a toy on a string and be petted, but taking him to the Vet is a big, hairy deal. His name is Sam and he's built like a tank. His ears are pretty much nonexistent and he has half a tail. The last time we took him in, they had to sedate him and we had to wear leather gloves and hold him down. When he had had his shots we put him back in the pet carrier and it actually bounced with the explosive anger of Sam. He didn't talk to me for a week. We're fine now.

10. Right now she is taking a nap...
I think she's fine now, probably a little sore from the shots.

9. She's beautiful! Have you considered a "home visiting vet?"
They aren't that expensive, and let me just say the convenience is FABULOUS. We actually ended up saving money because we only pay ONE office visit for all of our animals, while our "office vet" was charging for each pet -- expensive! And the convenience factor cannot be underestimated! :)

11. I don't even know if that is an option around here...
I'll look into it though.
