...except for the crap done by Lawrence Welk. All his stuff sucks.

Everything else is cool, though.

5. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU FRICKING DISS THE MAN LAWRENCE WELK

I love the Lawrence Welk show!

I grew up with our family watching it every week. In the late 90s when my grandfather was in declining health we would watch it together on PBS and afterward we would watch Pennsylvania Polka Night.

I love the show. THe only one with bad taste is YOU!!!

12. good thing he did not say anything bad about
Led Zeppelin.

Music is the great divider. Wanna start an argument in a group of people, all it takes is a tape deck. Not only will half of the group not like the music of the other half, they will be unable to tolerate it. And this in an age when much of it is, or has been broadcast nationwide.

If I recall my concerts correctly, she opened for Bruce Hornsby. I rather liked her- she kinda reminded me of a new-age Janice Joplin.

It just proves my cool has gone to another level.

A BETTER level.

Would I get my cool approval back from you if I told you I'm at this moment listening to my Eric Clapton discography? I'm currently at 1966- "Fresh Cream". Great stuff. One might say "cool".

31. Actually, Lawrence Welk music is not all bad.
It served one function for my grandmother. Any time she was constipated, she would listen to Lawrence Welk for treatment. And what about all those people who have suffered from insomnia? You can't say his music hasn't done wonders for many of them.

It's all a matter of personal preference, really. If music were really supposed to be approached as objectively "good" or "bad", why is it that just about everyone has more than a few "skeletons in the closet" when it comes to their music collection? I would think the folks who "know" music would only like only "good" bands but that seems to never be the case. If you add up all the artists different people consider to be their "guilty pleasures" there would be far more of them than the number of artists that are considered to be indisputably good, and there's just something messed up about that. People should listen to what appeals to them, and ignore all the people who try to pass off their personal opinions of music as indisputable facts.

As for Lawrence Welk, I actually have a sentimental attachment to the one song I know by him, "The Beer Barrel Polka" 'cause it was on a big band record of my grandma's that I used to listen to a lot as a kid. (That was as a kid in the early 1990's, though; I've never denied being a weird kid!) I've never heard anything else by him, though, at least as far as I know.
