Bush* Going On Vacation Today. So, what are YOU doing for the month?
Morning DUers!

so, how are YOU all spending your MONTH of August? Gettin' 4 weeks vacation are we?

what would YOU do with FOUR WEEKS of paid vacation????

you know its funny. repukes chastise Europeans for getting lots of vacation. say "Capitalism works better in 'Murikka cause we work harder", etc...

if you had 4 weeks of paid vaca, would you:

A) clear some brush off your land
B) look for wild turkeys whilst palling around with Saudi terrorists
C) spend your time talking to cows

???????

:puke:

I'll go to New Orleans from the 14th to the 21st to spend time with my family.

8. I am out of work so no vacation for me.
but I will spend the next 30 days in prayer. I have taken a lesson from the great christain Pat Robertson.

I pray that god helps dim son understand that its time to retire. I pray god sees him with his golf club pointing into the sky as a request for a sign from the heavens.

One solid bolt, thats all I pray for. And deliver us from evil Amen.

9. I have one little week of well-deserved vacation
and a company picnic which I'll skip today because I woke up this morning with a burning desire not to kiss my boss's ass today.

Then it will be back to work making the websites 508 compliant as per FAA requirements. Boring work!!! I'd rather be designing databases.

10. Work
I'm lucky in that I have employment and that my boss is increasing my hours-will be working 35-40 hrs per week now. And I'll be helping create a fundraiser for a local health non-profit which allows patients to 'pay' their bills by showing they've volunteered time at soup kitchens, etc. And I'll be trying my best to educate people on the dangers of Republican power.

28. What a wonderful idea!
(Allowing patients to pay for health care by volunteer work.)

In the Depression lots of people paid for things "in kind" (by work or with food and other goods they made.) People talk about it nostalgically, saying that was admirable. But usually anybody offering to do it today gets treated nastily.

What a deal! most jobs I know of don't give you 4 weeks vacation until you've been there 20 years. Dim Son got it from the start...

I sure as hell wouldn't vacation here in August. I'd be like Big Dog and go to Martha's Vineyard.

My plans for the month? Work and play - like any other month. :D

I need a vacation though...maybe September? :-)

Going to a wedding in Vegas (first time down in them parts)
then to see Cirque Du Soleil in Seattle!
Then Eddie Izzard in Seattle!

Before all this I've got to hire extra help.

It'll be one of the best vacations in several years.

I got u nder 20 a month. Hardly makes up for all I lost in my retirement fund. If that goes any lower I will have to see about welfare and food stamps.Yes they are still calling me poor in Maine and I am still paying taxes to both state and feds. I can not figure out how I can be both poor and yet own taxes. How the hell do they figure this stuff?

18. 4 weeks would be cool
I've been at my workplace for two years and only got 5 days for this year. I've already taken three to visit my family in Ohio. I have two more but I might be using those two to visit my family in Ohio also as it will be my grandparents anniversary November 1. My husband wants us to go on a camping trip and possibly back pack or canoe. If I had four weeks, doing both would not be a problem. Perhaps, we could go to one of the somewhat local attractions a couple of hours away during the week when things aren't as busy. Perhaps, we could go to a National Park or D.C. It could also be good to just take a day here or there to relax or get things done around the house. I would not go anywhere in the Southern U.S. during the summer though. If I countiue at my current company, I will have to wait 20 years to get 4 weeks vacation. Of course, if I am still there then and not plant manager, someone please shoot me or at least pound some sense into my head.

19. I'll never live to see four weeks of paid vacation
Thanks to the current administration, though, I did get to enjoy seven months of unpaid vacation. Couldn't afford to leave the house, but what the heck.

August brings a seamless transition to a second temp job that pays crap. It should last for at least two weeks.

After that, I'm at the mercy of the temp goddess. Maybe I'll sit around the house eating chocolate truffles and have the dish TV disconnected (again).

Don't think I want to burn the gas to go talk to cows. The closest wild turkeys (except the capitalized ones in a bottle) are even farther away than the cows. Don't think there are too many Saudi terrorists in the Apalachacola forest. JEB would know that better than I would. He's closer and has better contacts.

Maybe I'll talk to the brush in the back yard.

Oh, and I'll be getting a year older on the 28th. Not old enough to tap Social Security while there still is some, just old enough so I can't get a real job.

23. I'm not getting a vacation this year, and my job ends by 8/31
The grant paying for my job didn't get renewed, and since my boss won't have an assistant after that, I have to get as much work done as I can in the weeks I have left here, which means I can't take a vacation. (But my boss will be on vacation this week, and calling in or faxing me work.) I also have to look for a job, and I hope land one before this job is over.

A fun month, overall. (sarcasm)

24. Well, in reality, I'm starting college
But if I had four weeks of PAID vacation, I'd schlep around Europe or Israel (depending on the current political climate).

I'm very sorry that so many of you are having employment problems! :-( I hope that each of your respective situations will end with y'all having fabulous well-paying jobs!!
