I think my cat likes the Doors, maybe too much!
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 12:06 AM by flaminbats
I pulled my old record player out for the first time in years. My cat usually hates load noises, but he loves some things that are pretty weird. My cat was fascinated immediately by the turn table. I played "Break on Through to the other Side", my cat was didn't stop watching the record play, acting very wild when Morrison's voice went over to the crazy side. Then I played Unhappy Girl, my cat was even more interested by the strange noises coming by the record player. The high pitch guitar noises caused him to run back and forth in my room with the rhythm. Then came Horse Latitudes, my cat would run toward the record player as Morrison would begin to scream. Finally "Moonlight Drive" he would look at the moon-rise outside as the music played, but so near the end when Jim Morrison began screaming "EASY I LOVE YOU AS I WATCH YOU GLIDE..." my cat decided to jump onto the turn table of the record player.

So ended the song..and groovy experience, but I have also learned to play the record player when my cat is not around! :hippie:

1. Sounds like he needs some catnip
Then he can properly appreciate the experience. :hippie: I love Moonlight Drive, too. I can see why he freaked on it. This cat has potential.

3. Afraid my cat was lonely for some company, I made a similar misjudgment.

I placed a 3 dimensional, multicolored holocat neckless out in the living room to keep him company. He was totally freaked, he wasn't happy..but instead hissed and wildly attacked the image.

I'm not very good at determining the needs of my cat, other than providing food and changing the cat litter!

6. With cats...
...the thing to remember is you're in charge of food, litter and the weather and they're in charge of everything else (to paraphrase Robert Heinlein).

4. My cats go weird

when I say certain things like "Weenie, weenie, weenie" in a particular tone of voice.

About 10 minutes ago, my shower bar - one of several special things in my life that don't work the way they're supposed to - fell down because I had hung one too many things on it. It made louder than the usual noise, and all three of my cats - who had been relaxing on my bed - shot out of here and simultaneously lost traction on the kitchen floor. The bravest one is only just now coming back.

I know it's off topic, but it didn't seem worth starting a thread for.

Oh, and bonus, they and the diningroom carpet are all wet because they also knocked over their water dish. I found it about 10 feet from its original position (near the point of traction loss).

7. One of our cats freaks out
Over the electronic noises at the beginning of the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers video for 'You Got Lucky.' The song itself doesn't seem to disturb him, once the music kicks in -- but that 'Mad Max' intro on the video, where they find all the electronics in the desert covered in plastic, and somebody pushes the 'play' button on a tape player and it plays a garbled version of the hook from the song in this metallic tone ... he'll stand up and glare at the stereo speakers like he's getting messages from beyond, and twist his ears all around, until the sound stops.

Our dog has a conniption if you say 'poochie!' to him in a sqeaky voice. He was a stray, so we don't really know anything about his past, but I think somebody may have called him that at one time. But, then, sometimes he thinks his tail is gonna get him and he runs around in frantic little circles trying to bite it.

10. The most skittish of my three
(who is currently sitting by my bedroom door in case he has to make another quick exit) is upset by unusual noises at the beginning of songs on various CDs of mine, though I can't think of any of them off the top of my head.

8. post what you want, I like for my topics to drift.
To me, the term highjacker in these kinds of forums is just another term for intelligent and interesting.

My cat doesn't usually respond well to loud noises, but he certainly loves being at my parties and gaining the attention of the ladies.
