Next week it's someone else's turn. If anyone wants to continue this impromptu feature we need more than one kind of concert here- my gig is classic rock. What's yours? Show us your stuff!

And don't forget to add your own links to this thread- make the music last until the Rising Sun!

30 years later - they still rock the fucking roof off.

(and look 30 years older, esp. Squire!)

9. They're not getting older- they're getting better.
Aged like fine wine.

How many "young" groups will still be playing in 30 years, and how many will remember them? Not many, is my guess...

12. Damn right!
I don't know of many bands who started post-1980 who will still be rocking 40 years after they began.

We have The Police still kicking around, and Sting with a long career. Metallica still seem to be somewhat popular. But off the top of my head, that's pretty much it.

There's no way in hell that someone will be asking Oasis to get back together in 20 years. And probably not Phish.

But the world of rock music is basically bands/"singers" from the last 10 years, or bands/singers who started before 1976 or so.

We still have Joni Mitchell, Grace Slick, Floyd, The Who, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Peter Frampton, Yes, Robert Fripp, the Beatles (at least nostalgically), Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent (regardless of politics, the last two dudes are still rockin'), Sabbath, and so many more.

14. Not to mention my personal favorite group
Golden Earring- they've been rocking since '68, and they're still going strong. They may only have had a few hits stateside, but in greater Europe they're a musical mainstay!

I think I put at least 2 G.E. links here tonite- worth paying attention to them.

13. The best "My Sharona" was Zappa inserting it into Ravel's "Bolero" on his '88 tour
Brilliant!!

But the original also is really good. I still have that album.

23. Care to
Turn the World Around?

I believe that all around, we're all waiting for a sound
that will break the barriers down, and will make us all feel better
After all the madness' gone, after all I feel it's coming
There's a slogan on the wall, like a finger on a trigger
There's a truth behind it all, I believe it's getting bigger
But it's all up to you, and it's all up to me, yeah, it's all up to me
Your sweettalking babe, won't turn the world around
Meet me underground, turn the world around
Climb a mountain yeah, cry me an ocean too
Turn the world around, turn the world around
There's no problem babe, you're right, I'm wrong
Let's strike a bargain, ‘cause together we're strong
All your sense, all your love
Can't stop the fire from above
Don't you know?, when I go, you're gonna go too
Let's turn the world around
Darlin' daughter, I've been told, gettin' younger, turnin' old
Hides a moment, caught in time, in a mirror, that's gone blind
I can see inside my minds'eye, we may get the future right
There's a slogan on the wall, like a finger on a trigger
There's a truth behind it all, everyday it's getting bigger
But it's all up to you, and it's all up to me
Don't say impossible, when it's possible
We're responsible, let's turn the world around
Only one light to follow, only one dream to share
Let's strike a bargain, it's gonna get us there
