2. That's what a friend said.
She found it a bit confusing, but wonders if it's because she's English. There are still things in our culture she doesn't 'get'.

"You watch it and see if you can explain the parts I didn't understand."

Miz t. ain't too big on 'action movies', which I guess this is.
Her 'blood & guts' threshold is pretty low.

3. I thought it was awesome.
Much intrigue. So much, you have to really pay close attention to catch it all.

6. It was difficult to keep track of
at first but if you know that going in, you may fare better at it. I was crying when I left the theater, wishing somehow we could take the profit margin out of the Middle East equation.

9. Just think about it like
several different threads of a story that you need to keep track of until they all come togther.

I did have to close my eyes and plug my ears during one scene about halfway thru, tho. You'll know it when you get there.

10. Its really hard to follow.
If I hadn't heard a lot about it before hand- including a couple of interviews with the producer and reading some reviews- I would never have gotten through it.

Sorry, but this is a case where you can barely follow the movie, even WITH spoilers.

12. For me, it wasn't hard to follow at all.
I just don't understand all the complaints that people had trouble keeping track of the story lines.

If you're paying attention, you shouldn't miss anything. And it's an excellent film.

It's structured a bit like "Traffic" was, so if you saw that, that's about as complicated as it gets.

I agree that it is worth at least two or three viewings. It is a modern classic, IMO.

17. I would have voted it as best picture that year, but of course
it wasn't nominated because too many people had trouble following it. People don't like to pay such careful attention to a movie. Yes, it was difficult to follow, but I pretty much did follow it. It's the kind of movie I wanted to see again to get a fuller understanding. I absolutely loved it. It sparked a lot of political thinking regarding the Middle East and our government.

19. Saw it and liked it.
Although a lot of what happens comes under 'yeah, I'm not surprised'.
One question my English friend had "What happened to the little boy in the swimming pool?"

I think he was accidentally electrocuted?
Something to do with the prince's remote control of pool lights or something. Short circuit and kid electrocuted when he dove in?
Gonna watch those scenes again.

Anyway, thanks for the comments.
imbd was a help too.

22. It's... head-spinning
Takes some keeping up with. I liked it, though, and I think it did a good job of showing just how screwed up the situation is (without giving too much away).

But glad he could make it to that press shindig.

24. It is an excellent movie. However, it IS NOT typical "popcorn" film
A great many people went to "Syriana" and came out scratching their heads. The subject matter and the plot of the film plus the way the story is pieced together left many a little bewildered. It is a complicated move about a complicated subject.

When I saw the film a second time I was with someone who had above-average knowledge and education economics and geopolitics. She was able to explain points in the movie that I didn't absorb.

You may have to watch it more than once.

Don't hesitate to post some questions here at DU about certain things that you may not understand after you've seen it. A number of posters here at DU have posted asking questions about the film and have gotten first class/5-star answers from other fellow DUers.

Best performances in the film George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Alexander Siddig.

26. It's not the kind of movie
To pretend you understand everything because you think it'll all come together by the end. You'll be terribly confused if you don't try to figure it out as you go.
