9. Yeah, it has been horribly windy this spring but the poor thing is old

and infested with fungus and we have been in drought conditions for 10 years. It's kind of sad to see them die.

6. Aww thankyou Bertha. That wonderful old tree is over 100 and I am very sad.

My Great-grandfather brought some sapling "cottonless" cottonwoods out from Texas in a wagon around 1900. 5 of them survived to be 100 years old, but the last ten years have been VERY hard on them and cottonwoods aren't the longest lived trees anyway. It kills me watching them die, but I take heart that there are new wild ones surviving in our canyon. These have some kind of fungus in them and it weakens the branches. I would plant new ones in their place but I worry about infection. I need to find some kind of tree specialist - and THAT probably isn't in any budget! The only real harm done except for the tree is the trampoline and when we get the mess cleaned up we will see if the frame is repairable or if we need a whole new one - that will likely be a few months at least, if not next Christmas.
