Home sick with viral infection and bronchitis
which has worsened my asthma. Blech! I'll be posting a lot today as I am bored out of my head. This is the only sick day I have taken from work in over a year. Man. What is there to talk about?

2. Thanks Wildhorses
I am doing better, but I have the nauseous feeling because of the cough medicine I am taking. Blech! The soup does sound good though.

3. Hope you feel better fast!
I am still not right, 6 weeks after some totally debilitating infection that gave me a fever, painful sinuses, dry cough, shortness of breath, NO energy, etc etc.

I feel like a genetically engineered bug has set up housekeeping in my body.

I hope yours is of a completely different, and much less virulent, nature.

:hi:

5. What are your symptoms?
My friend and I both had this bug in mid-March-- she was told it was the flu, I was told I had a sinus infection, but our symptoms were similar. I was laid out for over a week-- and I NEVER take time off from work.

Now, 6 weeks later, I can only do half the exercise I used to do because I have no wind, and she's a singer and is having trouble because she too has no lung power. Our energy levels are way down, too. We are starting to get a little paranoid that we have some weird germ. But nobody else in my family has caught it.

6. Started with a run of the mill cold
Sore throat, dry hacky cough, laryngitis, etc.

Worked itself into fever and chills (and pneumonia).

Then it weaseled its way up into my sinuses.

Now I have a bit of a cough (productive), and some sinus pressure.

I am taking antibiotics for both the pneumonia and the sinus infection. Seems to be working, albeit working slowly.

7. Hmm, mine went the other way
from the sinuses into bronchitis-- tho sinuses keep flaring up as well.

Took antibiotics during the worst of it-- now I'm trying acupuncture, which I think may be helping.

Hope you feel better soon!!

8. I think mine went to my sinuses later because I flew on a commercial jetliner
twice while I was sick.

13. My wife has had something very similar
Sinus infection, partially collapsed lung and pre-pneumonia condition. She's had it for about 4 weeks. Antibiotics seem to be working and she said her ear just opened up for the first time in a month. Started as a cough w/sinus and chest congestion.

16. I hope so too, Maestro.
And I hope yours is not as serious as hers seems to have been. A partially collapsed lung! And I'm the smoker, not she!

10. Thanks. I have been fighting this for a week and a half.
I usually bounce back rather quickly especially after some medicine, but this past weekend I have been hit with waves nausea, fatigue and cold sweats. I went to work on Monday but left by 10:00am. I haven't been back since. I am calling the doctor today.

9. Humidfier!
If you don't have one in your bedroom, send someone out to get one for you - puts moisture in the air and you can breathe easier at night - which is when symptoms are always worse. Lots and lots of water - tons of it! If there is sunshine now where you are and the temps are accommodating, sit in the sun if you can. And don't, under any circumstances, bounce back into your regular routine the minute you show signs of improvement - my downfall. Something like this takes a bit to get beyond and it also affects your immune system - better to take care. As for "What is there to talk about?" . . . at this point, anything useless and mundane. Here's something to give you a laugh - if you've not seen this before - go to www.google.com. Click on "Maps". Click on "Get Directions". Type "New York" in the "from" box. Type "London" in the "to" box. Hit "Get Directions". Scroll down to step #24 of the directions. Hope you feel better soon!

11. My bronchitis I think is under control.
It's the viral part that is bringing on nausea, cold sweats and extremem fatigue. Blech! Thanks for the advice. Either way, a humidifier would not hurt.

15. Well, at least you're not at work spreading your germs around
And I'd rather be at home with a URI than with nausea. At least with a URI you can read or watch TV or play games or post on DU. When you're nauseous, you're pretty much limited to laying around thinking about throwing up!

Have you tried this stuff for coughs? It's OTC, and works amazingly well, without screwing up your GI system with codeine.

Feel better soon!
