How many audio devices are in your home?
Please categorize by method of audio generation, thusly (do not include those in automobiles, unless transferrable from automobile to home):

•CD players — five, including a "personal" player, computer CD drive and DVD player, which of course will also play CDs.

•Radios — 10, including an XM radio.

•Tape machines — Three

•Turntables — One

•Other (iPods, MP3 players, etc.) — None

TOTAL: 19

Do you consider this:

•not enough

•just right

•more than I need

(I vote "more than I need.")

7. My needs are
to be able to hear ball games no matter what room I'm in.

(I also have an old boom box in my workshop for just that purpose. But it's outside the house, so I didn't count it.)

10. well there you go.
there is some kind of audio thing in most rooms of my house, for me the garage matters the most because that where i spend too much time either cleaning or fixing something.

12. Before I got the XM radio
I'd stream ball games on mlb.com, then run like 25 feet of cable to an extension speaker outside.

Sucks to be a fan of an out-of-market ball club.

3. I think four. Stereo in the living room, Bose Wave in my office, boombox in the screen porch, so
I guess only three.

I know I'm supposed to want an ipod, but I just can't work up the desire.

6. You can count stereo components separately
That is, if you want to waste the mental energy. :silly:

I can't get up for an iPod, either. I've already got multiple sound sources in every room but the kitchen and bathrooms — and I do have a radio in the master bathroom. Why do I need an iPod?

14. mmm
1 CD player
2 computers that will play CDs
1 radio
1 cassete player
1 MP3 player/iPod thingy

must be more than I need, since I haven't played or recorded a cassette in several years, and the CD player stopped working a couple months ago. I could get rid of the whole stereo I suppose, since I never listen to radio either ( I only needed it to connect the speakers and the cassette player and CD player alltogether.) But then I'd have to have a MP3 player docking station thingy.

My cell phone will play MP3s if I ever loaded any on to it, but I haven't yet.

15.  Two household's worth
We inherited some of these when my MIL sold the house my DH grew up in.
•CD players — 3 including a "personal" player (with adapter for using with tape player in car) and
computer CD drive

•Radios — 4

•Tape machines — 4 (one large heavy older tape player/radio in which the tape player stopped working
and it would cost as much to fix it as to get a new one :(, but the radio is still very good :))

•Turntables — 2

•Other (iPods, MP3 players, etc.) — None

16. Oh boy
Around 45-50 radios, mostly Shortwave from 1950-70, and ever growing...

7 CD Players

2 turntables; one Rat Shack one from the 70's I bought at a local thrift store for 10 bucks, and a Viking "Hi-Fi" stereo from 1961, I think.

4 mp3 players; just picked up a Ipod Nano knock-off that I'm having fun loading up w/ video and whatever I'm listening to at the time..

2 CB (I know, I know..) radios that I turn on every so often, and a 1000ch Trunked Bearcat scanner as well.

And batteries, I'm buried under batteries.....

Radios: 2
CD Players: 4
Turntable: 1
MP3 Player: 1

Just enough: 1 radio for each end of the house.

CD Players include computers w/speakers or hooked up to receiver.

1 Turntable, a must.

MP3 player? Meh

24. Ooooo! An old Blackface
and an LX-20...I recorded a lot of bad racket on a Blackface ADAT. I really want to get my ADAT tracks off the tapes and into WAV files so I can abuse them in ProTools... :D

I'm another one with lots o' audio devices...in addition to being a musician, I'm an audiophile and I collect older stereo gear. I have lots of components in various states of disrepair in the basement. And it's yard sale season again. :D

26. yeah, i'm in the process
of moving a lot of my blackface tapes to either the computer or the HD-24 (that's the top machine) to get them archived so they don't deteriorate. I have a couple old analog reel to reel machines too, been working on archiving the stuff I recorded on them too. Long process, takes up a ton of hard drive space at 24 bits resolution.

one cassette/CD/radio

my computer

I think my DVD player will play CDs but I've never tried it.

My cable company offers a number of digital music stations... I don't know if that counts or not.

22. I've got:
Radios - 13 (each of the kids has a stereo and a clock radio)

Cassette players - 6

CD players - 8 (I'm not counting the CD drives on the computers or the personal ones -- if I did that, it would go up to 18 or so)

Turntables - 3 (one of them is an old Fisher-Price kiddie one)

Other - 3 (one is Bonehead's MP3 player, DIL has an iPod, and I've got a portable reel-to-reel)

Too much? Maybe -- but a lot of it (okay...most of it) is the kids' stuff.

Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 11:22 AM by Vash the Stampede
One IPod, one receiver, two TVs with music channels, one laptop, on CD/DVD player, one jambox.

Edit to add: XBox 360 - that also plays music too.
