He is only 8 months old....an elderly lady my mom knows gave him to us....His name is Scooter and he is like a demon dog...he runs constantly through the house and he jumps. When I took him out last night, he ran away from me, I liked to never get him back in the house....He doesn't like to take a bath.
Is all of this normal for this breed? I was expecting a cuddly lap dog..

2. sounds like normal puppy behaviour |
|
and I've heard Shih-Tzu's tend to be a little more high strung than other dogs.
All puppies behave like this to some degree, he'll mellow out some after hes about a year old. You may want to get him into an obediance class. Make sure he has some good toys to chew on, so he wont chew up your shoes and furniture.

3. They are very hyper energetic dogs. |
|
They are very sweet dogs, though. That's the breed I want when we have room for a dog.

lap dog that sometimes plays aggressively with the other little dog here. Her shi-tzu brothers and sisters from the same litter who my sisters friends adopted behave like how you describe your dog as behaving though. it might be his individual personality or maybe he might settle down once he gets used to his new environment and you.
