I just saw a commercial for the upcoming film "The Cooler".
The voiceover claims the movie "is the winner of two Golden Globe nominations."
Can you "win" a nomination?

Advance copies of films are given out to the academies and film reviewers for review. That way there is some free marketing buzz generated by published reviews or TV news at the time the film hits the theaters. There are over a million advance copies of films sent out every year.
