I have the tv on in the other room and C-Span is showing the recent debate. I want to shove forks in my ears everytime she talks.

Flame away. . .I don't give a shit.

1. Yeah, I have the same problem.
My clock alarm is on NPR, and I was awoken one morning to her giving a speech. And it was really bad. I still am undecided on who I like, but her voice just grates on me.
By the way, I have the SC convention "debate" or whatever it is on now. Same thing.

Cheney too now that I think about it. Maybe America wants a president who sneers and smirks and as Dems we don't know that because we're too far out of touch ?

10. Yeah... but
it's not just her voice. The woman has always struck me as insincere and rather cold, like she'd eat Chelsea if it meant she'd carry Ohio.

I have no doubt she'd eat the Dawg, and just for Montana.

12. If her name weren't Clinton...
I can't help it, but I honestly feel like this is the "Bush syndrome" in full effect. Without the name, she's city council/ school board material, at best. No apologies.

25. That's just wrong
factually and morally. I'm a Democrat because I hate sexist crap like this. "She married well, she couldn't do anything on her own." Every woman in power is accused of sleeping her way there, marrying her way there, or acting like a man.

Nothing--nothing--in her history would bear out a comment like that. She's been elected or chosen for leadership positions her whole life, from high school through college and throughout life. She went from college activist to a high powered attorney to the most active presidential spouse in our history to being a two term senator in her own right. I don't care if you like her, or even respect her, but shit like that is uncalled for.

No apologies, either.

37. "morally wrong...sexist crap...shit like that" - what the hell?
She's off limits because of her gender? Like Bush, her name helps her, whatever her gender. I don't know her on a personal level, so I can't really say if I "like" or "respect" her.

Obviously you feel that she is a good candidate. Please don't read too much into my opinion of HRC- I agree that she's smart and has many accomplishments, but as a Democrat it is my opinion that she's not a very good candidate.

14. It is so much more than her voice
I agree with the poster who said that without the last name she would be head of the city council or something.
I think she is all over the place politically & I have no intention of supporting her.
She's ALMOST as shifty as Bush.

15. It could curdle gin.
She desperately needs a voice coach -- there is too much tension in her throat and it makes her voice sound nasal and shrill. I want to know what she's saying but I don't like listening to her.

18. There are two radio personalities who have made quite the issue on
the sound of her voice. They play a part of one of her speeches where she's ranting about something, don't know what because that part is lost because all you can think is 'please shut up'. It's worse than fingernails on a black board. Todd and Tyler are the guys I'm talking about.

23. I like it. Edwards's voice bothers me.
Which is odd, considering I am southern and have trouble trusting someone without a southern accent. Something about him sounds hissy, like a snake. Clinton's sounds clear, strong, honest.

Not a comment on either person, just their voices.

Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 04:46 PM by fujiyama
in November. I had her victory speech on for some time, and just had to mute it when she was on. Sure enough a friend of mine that isn't very in tune to politics, but is pretty liberal, said a similar thing - "I can't stand her speaking. It sounds like she's screaming about something".

Her husband seems very easygoing and natural with a folksy charm to it. The only politician I've seen that can speak confidently and naturally is Obama. I like Edwards too, but at times he feels a little too slick and rehearsed, like he's obviously trying to sell you something - but then again, that probably comes from all those years as a trial lawyer.

I've got really tired of pundits and politicians that sound like they're constantly yelling and screaming. I realized that when Pat Buchanan was on one day. I just had to change the channel (well, of course he was probably saying something equally irritating as well). It's also why I stopped watching Hardball and other similar programs. After a while the tone just...gets to you.

Isn't she from the Chicago area? Every time I hear her speak I hear that accent. Maybe that's a big part of what people are hearing???

As I said, I love Chicago, Illinois, its people and their accents- but some have described that accent as "grating."
