I just bought a Dremel - What should I do with it?

OK, this morning I ran over a thick wire with my snowblower left over from one of the political lawn signs I had put up in the fall that somehow wound up in the corner of my driveway under some garbage pails. I moved the pails to blow the snow from that area and the blower caught the wire, wrapping it around the driveshaft like a piece of spaghetti.

After about an hour of using a small hand held hacksaw I got most of the wire off but still a large loop of it around and around the shaft. Someone recommended I get a Dremel to cut the rest off so I did and it worked great!

But now I am worried! This thing is almost as bad as a reciprocating saw. A guy can't buy those kind of tools without doing a great deal of destruction around the house unless his tool (or toy) energy is properly channelled.

So, what kind of projects can I use my Dremel for that do NOT entail dismantling the first floor of my house? I need help here before I start tearing things apart.

Then cut 'em off.

5. I used a dremel to alter a Holga

A Holga is a cheap medium format camera. I took off the lens and converted it to a pinhole camera. I had to shave away alot of the plastic from the inside (the dremel is great for that) and replace the lens with a piece of aluminum with a tiny pinhole to replace the lens. It takes very cool images.

I suppose that I could try a little drilling first but why bother when in the long run pulling them out gets the job done permanently. I was, however, thinking of using the Dremel to reshape my wooden replacement teeth and maybe carving little symbols in them, maybe astrological signs.

23. That's not funny, it's been done

I know someone who keeps a triggerfish. Triggers have a beaklike mouth that's hard enough to bite through rocks, because triggers feed on corals in the wild.

Unfortunately, you can't grow coral in an aquarium fast enough to suit a trigger, so his gets other things...and his beak keeps on growing and growing.

About once every three months, he fires up his hospital tank, puts some kind of knockout drops in it and inserts Mr. Trigger. After the fish passes out, he bails it out, files down its beak with a Dremel and throws it back into the display tank. Been doing it for years and no damage to the fish.

I know a lot of people that use their dremel for this BUT be careful, one friend managed to remove a very large patch of hair from the scalp of the person who was holding the dog when her hair fell forward into the path of the dremel VBG
