My cat goes in for his surgery tomorrow (he's becoming an it) and he's not allowed to eat after 9:30 tonight. This cat has never ever been without food since he's first moved in and taken over my apartment. I have a feeling the cat will be going nuts tonight. At least I took the day off of work!!!

3. Have you considered Neuticles?

I do not know if they make them for cats. I just had to add this because the very thought of Neuticles amuses me. My son has one of their tee shirts, I have considered their earrings. Kitty should be fine tonight.

6. They don't need to make them for cats

The cat you get back will have had his scrotum curled around into a nice neat little package that kinda looks like a set of balls except smaller.

They don't do this with dogs, which is why the Neuticles are necessary on them.

When our cat got fixed, it was so funny when we were leaving the vet because they were saying things like "have him take it easy for the next couple of days, make sure he gets rest, don't let him jump, etc." and my husband and I looked at each other weirded out. He's a cat, you can't control what a cat does!

Seriously though, he'' probably be bugging you for food, but will stop after a while. Mine were perfectly fine going without. Too bad we can't know what a good reward would be after surgery. Last time I looked, kitties didn't like lollipops or ice cream (well, maybe ice cream in small doses, but not chocolate). Kitty ear scratches on the way.

7. Xanax doesn't work on cats or dogs

I've tried to give it to my dog that freaks during thunderstorms and it doesn't phase her. We asked the vet and he said it doesn't work on dogs or cats.

9. I'll second this one

Feed him at 9 pm..then put him in the carrier..oh and if you can have a friend drop him off at the vet and YOU pick him up..then he will hate your friend not you :D

It's always ugly when surgery has to happen. Just know that it's for only one night. He'll be a big, fat lazy bag of sleep tomorrow when you get him home.

When I brought my Panda home after being fixed he was really wobbly all night. I put his cat carrier down in the bathroom and he weaved his way out and splatted face down in his water bowl.

I had to laugh, even though it was pretty sad.

So, I let him have a drink and a scratch in his litter box and then back in the carrier till the next morning. In his state, I was afraid he'd tumble down the steps.

By the next evening he felt much better and a day or two later he was back in fighting form.
