I loathe the genre of "Classic Rock". Of course, there are bands of that era which transcend the genre, such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath.

However, your standard-issue longhairs being helicoptered in to some 'free-love festival', with, like six guitarists and a bunch of stuid hats, make me wanna retch. Roger Hodgeson and Mick Fleetwood, I'm talking to YOU!

That said, I can't get enough of Jethro Tull.

9. Yes, they are my most hated of all bands. Even more than Genesis.

For some reason, I abhor them above all others. Could be the near-total radio saturation of "Breakfast in America" during my formative years, or the tiresome pretension of Crime of the Century or Even in the Quietest Moments, or even the video for "It's Raining Again".

It's growing on me like a disease, from all the concerts on PBS. I used to watch shows like "Austin City Limits" when they were mostly blues, and now it's almost all bluegrass. If I don't get the remote fast enough, I'm sucked in and tappin' my toes.

He's absolutely amazing. Hope the banjo is going well for you. I've played guitar for 20+ years, and have started expanding my string-instrument repetoire. Right now I'm learning flamenco-style guitar (hence the avatar), and have often thought of learning the five-string banjo next. It sounds like fun!

I loved Leslie Gore and her music (she was a singer in the mid 60's for those who don't know of her). Leslie Gore was sort of the Debbie Gibson of her time (and even that reference is dating me)

Leslie Gore's music was pure bubble gum...songs about teenage love, walking along the beach, malt shops. But absolutely infectious stuff. I loved it! :-)

I love Leslie Gore! When "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows" comes on the radio, I turn it up real loud and sing along, much to the chagrin of my husband. I do the same with "It's My Party" and the sequel song "Judy's Turn to Cry". Boy, she does have a lot of songs about crying.

Hawkwind is possibly the worst band EVER, universally hated by almost everyone except their hardcore fans, but for some stupid reason I like them in all their goofy sci-fi stone age glory.

ELP, OTOH, is a guilty pleasure I've had since high school in the early-mid 80s. I own a copy of all their early LPs, even the absolutely horrid "Love Beach" from 1978 (all on vinyl, of course!). I must be a masochist.

The worst, most geekiest, most loathsome, most pretentious musical genre ever. I think everything that prog-rock stands for runs flat out full speed in the face of everything rock and roll should be about.

That being said I enjoy quite a few albums and songs by certain prog bands, particularly Yes.

I have a sizable prog-rock vinyl collection, including every Yes album up to 90125, every King Crimson album to "Three of a Perfect Pair", and every damn ELP album pre-1987.
