1893: If you thought Hawaii wanted statehood, guess again: With help of U.S. military, pineapple mogul Sanford Dole overthrows Hawaii's Queen Lilluokalani & declares himself Hawaii's 'president,' ending islands' sovereignty & setting stage for forced annexation by U.S.


1958: A photographer aboard Brazilian Navy ship snaps four photos of UFO off Trindade Island.


1981: Boxer Leon Spinks mugged, loses gold teeth to assailants.


1991: Operation Desert Storm begins, as U.S. starts bombing Iraq.
