1. Ghoti spells "fish"
"Gh" as in "laugh", "o" as in "women", and "ti" as in almost any "--tion" word.

3. answers
if you bend the rules of English orthography enough, ghoti can be pronounced "fish." GH is pronounced as "f" in words such as lauGH, TI is pronounced "sh" in words such as "acTIon."

the original meaning of "terrific" (accd. to the OED) is "Causing terror, terrifying; fitted to terrify; dreadful, terrible, frightful."

here's another one: King James II, when he first saw Saint Paul's Cathedral, was said to have described it as "an awful and artificial building." did he like it or not?

"Awe full" or awe inspiring and showing great artifice, or skillful workmanship. He liked it, he really liked it!
