I hate using sick days when I'm actually sick
But that's my situation today.
Guess I'll just have to stay home and read The Price of Loyalty
Darn the luck.

1. Yeah, sick days are not meant to be used when you are sick
My three rules for using a sick day when you are sick.
1) Cannot get out or stay out of bed for too long.
2) Cannot talk.
3) Some type of sickness which causes major skin problems, like a rash.

3. People still get sick days?
My last three jobs have all counted sick days as vacation days. So it's a double whammy - not only do I not get to enjoy my day off, it's one less day I can take off later!

5. What we need are Well Days
Days that you feel so good you can not possibly go to work.

7. Oh, I have those
They come from the same pool as the sick days.

6. Sorry You're Feeling Poor. But It's Better Than SPREADING Your Illness...
to others at your work (if you're contageous).

8. At least you get sick days
We have to use vacation where we work when we are sick.

9. We don't get paid sick days
We are generously allowed to miss 8 days per year without getting fired. These days are unpaid. Since many of the employees are living paycheck to paycheck, we have sick people come in. A few days later, all the people that don't care that they aren't getting paid are all sick at home for a few days. In some instances, they have let people use vacation days for sick days, but they discourage it and we don't get very good vacation time anyway and none until after a year.
My next job will have paid sick days. I've felt miserable at work a few times this year and am sure that one of my illnesses lasted longer because I felt compelled to go to work even though I felt like I was going to pass out.
