Who has heard of Romanovsky & Phillips?
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 03:57 PM by WillBowden
Who here (if anyone) has heard of Ron Romanovsky and Paul Phillips? They are (actually were) a gay singing duo several years ago. Why am I asking? I used to own all their CD's until a friend asked if he could borrow them and then he "LOST" them so now I don't have them. I do, however, have some of the music on the computer so I'll survive.

I saw them in concert (well, kind of) once many many years ago. I was working for the Milwaukee AIDS Project and I got to man the sales table of R & P products. They asked me to help them in a sound check when they found out that I knew all of their songs by heart. After the concert they asked if I was going out and I said no, I needed to get home. I said goodnight and started walking toward the exit when they called after me and said, "You're not getting away without a hug." It was a really NICE night.

Their best songs, in my opinion, are:

LOST EMOTIONS
HYMN
LOVE IS ALL IT TAKES (To make a family)
DON'T USE YOUR PENIS FOR A BRAIN (A swipe at Ronald Reagan)

Anyone else, other than me, ever heard of them?

1. Must've Been Drunk
must've been drunk for us to carry on that way
we don't have the right equipment for the games we like to play
now maybe it's the wine & weed that made us act so queer
or maybe homosexuals have bottled up this beer

Queers doing bluegrass? Damn right!

LOVE Romanovsky & Phillips

4. I've been listening to them again quite a bit
They've got some great songs. I was sad when they split up (romantically first and then professionally). They used to have a website called Fresh Fruit Records that no longer seems to exist. I really wanted to order copies of the CD's that my 'friend' lost! <BASTARD!>

5. Last time I looked, you could get most of them on Amazon
I love R & P! I came across an old CD of theirs in 2000 while cleaning out the gigantic closet of a local gay organization. I popped it in the CD player, and was hooked on their music- it struck me how they could do humor so well, and then turn around and make me cry. Wow.

I haven't met anyone in real life who actually has heard of R& P... this thread made me smile. :-) Yeah!!

Ok, my favs.:

-She has a thing (for men who like men)
-I'm in love with my therapist
-lost emotions

And a lyric for all of you R& P fans!
-----------------------
-She has a thing (for men who like men)
Chorus:
She has a thing for men who love men
They just want to be her friend
She has a thing for men who love men
She falls in love with them
Her closest friend in high school
Stole her heart away
The damage was already done
When she found out he was gay
She tried to understand
That it would never work
She felt like she'd been deceived
And he felt like a jerk
(Chorus)
Her oldest friend in college
Came out to her one day
But neither of them listened
To a word he had to say
They put away his fantasies
And shut the closet door
His lips said I love you
But his eyes said I need more
(Chorus)
And she doesn't understand
Why she thinks she needs a man
And nobody knows just why
She can never find a guy
One day she met a woman
Who asked her for a date
She had no time to refuse
Or to explain that she was straight
Courted like a schoolgirl
Treated equal like a friend
She finally found the love
That she'd been looking for in men
And now she understands
That she doesn't need a man
And nobody knows just why
She's not looking for a guy
