8. I hope your stomach tolerates them

When I had mine out, I took my vicodin every four hours or whenever the recommended time in between was even though I was in pain before then. The pain and blood discouraged me from eating. After four vicodins my stomach revolted and I chose to be in pain instead of vomitting and in pain half the time. I hope that you don't have the same problem.

10. I had the same thing

like twenty five years ago... in one sitting! I begged the oral surgeon to knock me out because I didn't want to be conscious for it. He wouldn't do it, but then his assistant gave me something that at least mellowed me out.

I had some serious pain for a few days after that, but I imagine the drugs are better now.

14. I did that 12 years ago.

Went in in the morning, took the day off, and figured I'd be back to work the next day. My face swelled so grotesquely large my then-12-year-old son screamed when he came wandering out the next morning. I missed 2 weeks of work waiting to become appropriate for public viewing, and my face didn't go back to normal for another couple of weeks after that.

Here's hoping to a quicker, easier recovery for you!

15. Want to hear something depressing about wisdom teeth removal?

My 14 year old son just had them removed, just the two lowers. Cut out actully, they were still in the jawbone. He wanted to eat hot pockets the same day! Instead he got pudding, ice cream, soup. The third day he was eating pretty much normal food (albeit, carefully!), and only took a couple of his pain pills the first day. If his jaw was not a little swollen on one side, you would never know he had it done! May be because he is young...

I was 31. Mine were also cut out. I don't know why some people have a harder time than others, but one of my former students, an 11 year-old who is in class next door to me this year, had 2 teeth removed a few months ago. She swelled like a grape, and didn't look like herself for several weeks. Her mother made sure she never missed a day of school; a great academic move but tough socially for an 11 year-old girl!

I found mine growing paralell and under my other teeth when I as 25.

My dentist swore up and down to my parents that everything would work out by the time I was 12 and they didn't have a whole lot of money to spend at the time.

Let me just say I don't trust dentists too much and the one I go to has a bar next door.

20. Update for any that care

slept 14 hours last night. Am a bit light headed and sore, but have no pain (haven't taken in pain killers today) and the swelling is minimal.

I think my dentist did a really good job. I'm going to write him a thank you note.

After a day or so you should cut the vicoden. It'll hurt like a mofo but you won't regret it in the long run.

I had mine removed last week. Vicodin didn't help with my pain so they gave me something stronger. I really only felt bad a couple of days.

25. I had that done... OUCH

I was pretty much out of it for 4 days... Mine were growing in vertically and they had to saw them in two before they were removed. Fortunately, they knocked me out completely and laced the cocktail with phenargen (to prevent vomiting). However, I was a zombie for a number of days.

Then, it was bullion cubes and ICEEs...

What can I say? Had all four removed in one sitting. Doctor used a hammer and chisel. Dental Tech had huge tits and swung them about my face. No swelling. No pain. (Tylenal-Codiene and bottle of wine!) I'd do it again!

27. Oh, I had a terrible time with that

Had the same thing done when I was 19. The next day I got the stomach flu. Ever tried to throw up when you can hardly open your mouth and that mouth is full of stiches? Thought I was gonna die. Then I had a weird withdrawal from pain meds; all I remember is pacing around the house with my mom following me so I didn't jump out a window.
