What will others say at your eulogy?
Of course, you'll be looking down, and may even have the power to strike them down if they aren't nice.

I don't know that anyone would say anything other than "he came, he ate, he doesn't eat anymore" or "remember him for the good works he might have done if he had ever gotten his sh*t together"

And was a better person for it, missing the sniping and often downright hatred that loses perspective about the Ultimate Evil to be faced in November.

Some time ago, I decided that my great ambition in life was to not balance the weight of a dead fly on the scales of eternity. So far, everything is going according to plan!

8. He managed to do one or two good things
Edited on Sat Jan-17-04 05:54 PM by realpolitik
Even though his shit was never in one sock.
He wrote a good poem, played a mean guitar, was not bad in bed.

He stopped counting his unsuccessful CPR attempts
when he hit 300.

He was exceptionally good at hitting people with sticks.

There was a hole torn in his soul which let cold air in, and
warmth leaked out of.

His bullshit filters were sharp, and fought for what he thought
right, regardless of success or failure.

He was a loser with a silver tongue.

That about covers it.

And it's not what I want on my epitaph -- it's what I expect some smartass (like one of my hateful Repuke relatives) will say at my funeral.

As for my epitaph, I want:

FINALLY IN A PLACE WHERE GENDER DOESN'T MATTER

23. shudder
They won't have the chance. I'm not having one. If I get my way, no one but my sons will notice I'm not around any more.

No discussing me in public; my boys can talk together all they want. They may argue over where to dump the ashes. In my garden, planting a tree in me, or scattered off the top of a mountain, or at the base of a sequoia; they'll know what to do. One son will write a song about me; he'll play it on the guitar and sing it while the other son does the digging, scattering, etc. Then they'll totter back to their retirement; I'm not that much older than them. By that time, we'll be old together.
