Paul Newman makes it official: He retires at 82

One of the great ones has decided to hang it up.

Paul Newman is retiring. Oscar winner, nine-time nominee, bluer-than-blue-eyed sex symbol, star of The Sting, The Verdict, Absence of Malice, Slapshot, Empire Falls, Harper, Cool Hand Luke, Hud, too many to name (50 films or so), has told the Brits that it's time.

His last screen work was voice work in last summer's Cars.

1. An excellent actor and a pretty decent acting career.

He was turning in fine performances right toward the end...he was very good in "The Road to Perdition".

I hope that while he gives up acting, he continues with his liberal activism.

2. He was on Nixon's enemies list too

which makes him a-okay in my book

He was one of the first actors to take "points" on a movie-Butch Cassidy-and he made 10 or 20 Million off that one movie over the years.

Great guy.
