My neighborhood has "Dog Bag Stations" all over.
Mostly in bags or boxes in front of people's homes. Plastic grocery bags for the purpose of picking up your dog's droppings.
I live in Ocean Beach San Diego. One of the most dog-friendly area in the US. There's even a whole beach dedicated to dogs. "Dog Beach".
So everyone has a dog/s and there has been a problem with the poo-poo that ends up on the streets and the grass strip by the curbs. If you walk down a street here you'll notice several of these stations encouraging people to clean up after their dogs. When the stations are empty people like me refill them with our own bags. Works out kind of nice and the shit doesnt pile up like it used to.
Any other communities have this?

1. Haven't seen any in my neighborhood, but what a great idea.
I always bring a bag when I take my dog for a walk.

2. My old neighborhood did
Although it was actually a formal stand put out by the city next to apartment buildings and parks because we were in a particularly dog-friendly area. They were very cool, because the bags provided were biodegradable.

3. They had these staions at my old apt'
but there was always one person who would let their dog poop right next to a station and let the poop stay where it fell. :(

4. "Plastic" grocery bags? Nice gobal warming solution, Hitler.

Of course, I kid. I think that this is a fantastic idea and creates not only a dog-friendly community, but also raises awareness that folks need to pick up after their companion animals.

5. I was on that beach 15 years ago, or so.
Dog poop everywhere!!

Here, the problem is that people put their poop in bags, and then set them down to (presumably) pick them up later, and forget. The landscape is dotted with un-decomposable bags of shit. I just HATE that!

Just throw the shit in the woods and let nature take care of it!!!

The City pumps a few bucks into Dog Beach. There are these nice stainless steel boxes with rolls of plastic bags in them all over the beach. Refuse cans under them. Once a month they have this "Dog Beach Cleanup" deal where they give you t-shirts or posters for your volunteer work.
You'd be surprised how much cleaner it is.

6. We have none here, but it's a good idea.
Frankie does his business in our backyard, but it would be nice to have "drop stations" when we take him for a walk around the neighborhood or to a park.
