BabyG got hurt today during an AYSO tournament...
And I wanted to kill the Ref.

Nothing is worse for a parent then to see their kid get hurt.

He was having a banner game. Really pushing, which was scaring me because 1. the heat 2. kids get hurt (It's the overprotective part of me that leaves me worrying the whole game).

4th quarter, Baby at center forward and a head crashes into his knee. (the kid was told to 'try and take him out) His knee bent the way it wasn't supposed to and down he went. Parents can't run onto the field so the coach ran out. Just as the ref was shouting at him "Come on...get up! I don't have all day kid." BabyG was trying valiantly to get up and the coach yelled,"Don't MOVE BabyG!"<<<not his real name. He carried him off the field and looked at his knee. We're going to ice it tonight and take him in in the morning if all is not well. He's says he feels better, but his coach says that is how it is with a torn meniscus.

One, Stupid coach of the other team: THIS IS AYSO SOCCER...NOT A GAME AGAINST MANCHESTER U. YOU DON'T ENCOURAGE 8 YEAR OLDS TO 'TAKE EACH OTHER OUT'

Two, stupid ref, quite this sport. You had it out for my son since the beginning of the game, called two fouls on our team. Why? Because you're best friends with the coach of the other team. Gee? Whoever said politics isn't involved with AYSO is full of sh*t.

These are the things that make parenting a tough job...

1. Rec leagues can be more competitive than pro leagues.
and it's the parents and coaches, not the poor kids.

Hope BabyG is better soon. Did he get badly hurt? Hope not.

2. His coach thinks he might have a torn meniscus.
:( Time will tell.

My daughter played CYO sports for 5 years and I couldn't believe what would happen at the games. They have now instituted a contract that parents have to sign regarding their own behaviour, but they rarely follow up.

Thanks Midlo!

6. I wanted to... but I am going to call the regional offices and give them
an earful. It was a disgusting display for AYSO.

Thanks Rev! He's doing better this afternoon. It was so hot for them. I knew he was hurting because he even passed up the ice cream stand visit.

5. You don't encourage *anybody* to take each other out in football.
It's meant to be a non-contact sport. Even pros get sent off for fouling other players, if they get caught.

I'm sorry MrsG.

8. They really don't play fair in a sport that's supposed to emphasis
fairness and fun. :(

9. Poor kid.
I hope he's feeling better.

That ref has no business officiating a game where friends are involved.

10. You go, MomG
>Nothing is worse for a parent then to see their kid get hurt.<

I hope that it's not a torn meniscus. I also hope that the coach of the other team realizes his part in this and offers an abject and sincere apology at the least. You're right. It's not Manchester U. If he's so clueless that he'd tell an opposing player to "take him out," then tell an obviously injured eight-year-old he "doesn't have all day," he shouldn't be coaching.

 for you and for BabyG. I know BabyG's getting all the hugs he needs right now.

11. Give them hell, Mrs. G!
What is WRONG with people? These crazy coaches, parents, etc. are ruining sports for kids; kids need to be active in our obese country and behavior like this is what makes them quit. Grrr....

I hope BabyG's injury isn't as serious as it sounds....especially for an 8 year old.

PS When you're finished with those refs, call the NBA and explain that anyone can score 48 points in a basketball game when they're allowed to take four steps toward the basket, not just LeBron....grrr again.
