The squirrel situation revisited

I have figured out how to stop the squirrels from stealing all the birdseed. No, I didn't shoot pinto beans at them.

I let them eat all the food. A feeder full of sunflower seed, a brick of suet and a seed bell, all have been eaten in 2-3 days.

I am leaving all of it empty today. Now, I get to watch them hunt for food.

Oh dear.. I'm starting to feel bad.. they look sooo hungry.

1. I heard

you could put chilli powder in the birdseed. The birds can't taste it, but the squirrels can and don't like it.

I have no idea whether this is true, or whether it is wise. YMMV.

2. Hey, thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that when we put our feeders

out next fall. Damn varmints ate the whole thing! :grr:

3. Varmits is right!

They were cute at first, but they need to go find nuts or something. I'm devising a hillbilly contraption to keep them from being able to reach the feeders. Its still in the planning stages hehe
