I need answers, darn it!
Why do they call it a "Drawing Room"?

Does one go there to Draw? Are the Drawings stored there?

I can't figure it out.

(Please no referrals to Google or the Wiki... They will be summarily shunned.)

2. It's from the word "Withdrawing", it was a room for the lady of the house to
have some privacy. I have one, thats where i keep my fainting couch.

5. Bummer...
Makes sense tho. :)

I guess I'll have to move my drawings elsewhere and stop pillaging through other
"Drawing Rooms" looking for drawings.

Next thing you know, I'll find out the installation of fire suppression sprinklers
in the "Smoking Lounge" was a complete waste of money. :eyes:

6. I was thinking maybe it was the opposite...
A room to "Draw" people into.

Ooops! :)

8. Not sure skygazer...
The refrigeration equipment for the Ice Cream must've been taken out in a past renovation.

Maybe the plumbing is still there.

I'll invite you to the opening!

10. Sometimes they left the refrigeration in the room and turned it into a funeral parlor
or they installed hair dryers and made it into a beauty parlor.

11. I think mine was once used as a 'Massage Parlor'...
But, once all of the coats and galoshes are shoved out of the way there's hardly room
for more than one person at a time in there now.

15. Now you're just making stuff up!

My brother once made a do-it-yourself 'porte cochere' out of his 'car hole' when the
brakes on his pick-up failed and he went crashing through the back. (True story)

14. It's from the French "parler", meaning "to talk".
Because that's the room for meeting visitors to discuss things.

17. Then the Obulette is where you meet to stop the talking?
Ah, I'm begining to understand the layout of many floor plans.

18. Well, not so much "meet"....
But, yeah- if your host has you escorted there, you can safely
assume that the "talking" did not go well, and is pretty much OVER.
