Britney Spears might portray Daisy Duke
snip

"It's a ludicrous idea," said Ben Jones, who played good ol' mechanic Cooter on the 1979-85 TV series, meaning no offense to the popster. "Nobody has ever worn Daisy Dukes as well as Daisy Duke."

Isn't Daisy supposed to be sexy, funny, smart and tough? Britney isn't any of those.

And, just incidently, Catherine Bach could act too.

1. Get bent, Britney
I agree with Cooter. There can be only one Daisy. As he suggests, bring back the original actors and introduce the "next generation" of Dukes. Putting all of those "flash in the pan" young actors into those classic roles is just wrong.

Dukes of Hazzard was the most important thing in the world to me right around late elementary - early junior high. Just a fun, innocent show with a super-cool car. Kinda too bad now that I'm older I recognize the inappropriateness of a car named General Lee with a confederate flag on the roof.

4. Not another "tv show gone tacky movie" gambit
If they want to make money, make GOOD TV shows and release the old ones, by season, remastered on DVD for pity sake!

DO NOT REMAKE "THE DUKES OF HAZARD"!!! They will ruin it just like they've ruined everything else. Well, except for "The Brady Bunch" which actually took a refreshing, new approach to the concept...

6. Incorrect. The official low point of american TV was
when Jackass made omelettes by vomiting the ingredients into a hot pan

8. Oh it's mindless campy fun!
Keeping it in its proper mindset, and in tolerable doses, it's quite fun. And it was made in an age of innocence. We ought to know better these days.....

The movie version will just take out the class and add in tasteless humor.

9. Britney bashing is so last Tuesday
Yeah so she's been overmarketed, thats the nature of her business as someone who makes pop music. I mean if someone wanted to cast her as the lead in a remake of Casablanca, then yes outrage would be expected and justified. Hell I could think of worse things than Britney Spears in Daisy Duke shorts....
