Powerpoint Experts. How do I insert a song into a presentation?
I clicked on insert > movies and sounds > and play audio CD as well as insert from file and Nada.

Any advice? TIA.

1. That's weird, I think insert from file ought to work.
Been awhile since I've done that but IIRC, that's how it was done?!

2. Tiptoeing through the Tulips via Powerpoint will only open a portal to hell
which cannot be closed.

Please don't, Powerpoint is annoying enough already

:P

5. What, you got something against animated slide transitions?
Especially when it's a different one for every slide...I love that...

:silly:

7. LOL. It's for TeenMidlo. She did a PPT on Angels
and wants to add Train's "Calling All Angels" to it.

And, MY powerpoints are pure gold, dude.

16. This was my first thought as well.
Actually, it was my second - my first was "don't do the Powerpoint presentation at all, sound or no sound."

3. I'm assuming you already did all of this?
Add, music, songs, or sound effects

1. Display the slide to which you want to add music or sound effects.

2. On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then do one of the following:
Insert a sound file
Click Sound from File, locate the folder that contains the file that you want, and then double-click the file.

3. Double-click the sound file that you want to insert.

4. When a message is displayed, do one of the following:
To play the music or sound automatically when you go to the slide, click Automatically.
To play the music or sound only when you click the sound icon , click When Clicked.

5. To adjust the settings for when the sound file stops, click the sound icon , right-click, and then click Custom Animation.

6. In the Custom Animation task pane, click the arrow on the selected item in the Custom Animation list, and then click Effect Options.

7. On the Effect tab, under Stop playing, do one of the following:
To stop the sound file on mouse-click of this slide, select On click (the default).
To stop the sound file after this slide, select After current slide.
To keep the sound file playing for several slides, select After, and then set the total number of slides the file should play on.

4. Put the whole presentation
and the song on a Myspace page. That way you can annoy far more people.

10. I think that's right
You also might need to click on the icon - depending on how you have it set up.

13. I can get the song to start playing on the first slide, but
when I transition to the next one, it stops. I tried getting it to transition automatically and nothing happens.

The presentation is only 9 slides long and the song is about 4 minutes, so I figured that was about right.

Any ideas?

17. That's because it's embedded in the first slide
It will only play when that slide is being featured. You could trick it (I think) by putting a bunch of layers on one slide, but it will be fiddly. Instead of transitioning to a new slide, you will be placing the image/text over the old stuff in the same slide. If you have any transparent sections (text boxes) you'll need to either put something opaque behind them (that looks like your background) or fill them.

19. I followed all those steps. Ugh.
Guess she'll have to do without it. It's such a great song, though and would be so awesome in this PPT.

Thanks. :hi:

22. I think I'm going to email the PPT to the teacher and let her
bring in the CD and play it when she gets there. I can't think of any other way for her to do it. The teachers all have laptops, but they only have one drive.

Thanks! :hi:

21. Copy the song to your computer.
I copy sounds from the net and put it my my drive and then when I want to insert a sound I just do it that way. I guess you know that already but I haven't inserted any song straight from the net.
