My dog's been in a cast on bedrest for the past 7 weeks after having broken her leg in January and failing to heal with the first cast. Today they're going to do another x-ray and hopefully the cast will be able to come off. Please send good vibes -- if this doesn't work the next step is to amputate :(

X-rays turned out great. One more week in the cast to be on the safe side and then she's going to need therapy and a brace for a couple months but barring the unexpected it looks like she's going to get to keep the leg!!!

but... even if it did come to amputation, dogs really seem to adapt incredibly well to being tripods...

13. Even with one bum leg she can still drag me across the room!

We've actually had to keep her sedated most of the time because without the sedation she was only causing further damage. I can't wait for her to be able to play fetch again.

One of my sisters' greyhounds, Tanner, had to have a rear leg amputated and he adapted remarkably well. I know you're hoping for the best but amputation wouldn't be the end of the world for your baby.
