It's such a joy to age and have your body fall apart organ system by organ system, and to take multiple drugs to control everything and endure all the bullshit side effects that would be worse than the original problem except they don't kill you. FUCK!

5. So far, nothing. Just a RAVENOUS appetite.
I've had the stuff in my system since Friday. Laughing... if you're hoping the gain would be all in the pectoral area, alas, no

7. It's Depo Provera.
I have to take hormones because of bleeding cysts, but I've developed high BP so anything with estrogen in it is verboten. This is only progesterone and sounded like a reasonable alternative until I noticed that I am starving all the time. I mean, hungry enough to eat one of my children.

10. oh, man. That's rough.
I've heard DP has some nasty side effects - like severe headaches. I hope you are at least spared that.

Hang in there.

13. Isn't it like having PMS all the time?
Essentially the drug loads you up on progesterone, just as you are right before your period. Yuck. So not only do you have cravings, you also have water gain, a feeling of being bloated, etc.
I couldn't take any birth control pills because they made me feel so bad.

15. I've never had any problem with birth control pills before
except that they aggravated my GERD which at the moment is (barely) under control. I have to take something or else have my ovaries removed... I don't want to age any faster than I am already. Damn, I hope my body adapts.

11. My sister's old doctor put her on something for depression but didn't
tell her that serious weight gain was one of the side effects, even though my sister asked her directly. When the pounds just piled on, she confronted the doctor who admitted she hadn't quite told the truth, because it was for Andrea's "own good." Andrea fired her. She's still on the same drug because it works, but she didn't like being lied to. Sorry BNL! It sucks, doesn't it?

14. I gained 80 lbs on Paxil
I went from 140 lbs to 220 lbs in the space of two years. This was back in the mid-90s, when it was first out, and they didn't think weight gain was a major side effect. So not only did I have the weight gain, I also had my doc telling me it wasn't the drugs and must've been my diet/activity level-- even though my activity level was up and my appetite was about the same.

So yeah, I feel your pain.

16. Jeepers. Eighty pounds?
Screw that - I'll stick with this for the requisite three months and see if I can handle it. So sorry about your experience, NNNS. That's rough.
