I've got nothing against religion, whatever gets you through your day. However this administration has pretty much given up leadership responsibility of this country to the voices in their heads (and corporate donors). That scares the crap out of me.

5. So what?

How is this any different from something any other group of people, religious or not, might have done after a stressful day butting heads & working out problems? Hell, I'd've pulled out my guitar & sang whatever kind of songs came to mind with whoever felt like staying up and unwinding.

I'm as freaked as everyone else by this administration's pervasive religious fundamentalism, but jesus, do we have to hammer them on something like this? Singing hymns in this setting has no effect on policy, people.

6. What's creepy is that they justify their policies with religion

You've got Condi singing hymns while people are dying in Iraq because of her agenda and Ashkroft plays the piano while he holds an untold number of people without counsel. These people have a greater capacity for evil because they can justify anything in their own minds as being the Lord's way. Singing hymns in this setting is just a very creepy illustration of how they use religiosity to justify their evil. This has happened in history: the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials, the attacks of 9/11 (theoretically). Religion once again is the shield of infamy.
