Do they not realize that, at the time, that stadium was the safest place in the country because it's enclosed, and you can bet the SS were there, probably starting a day early, checking EVERY employee, and the NYPD was all over the place, frisking everyone who came in...

Sheesh.

When Reagan was president, his son's ballet company to my small-town high school to perform an evening show. The Secret Service - and this is just for a president's son, by the way - were crawling all over the school starting before school time; they were stationed outside the theater at all doors all day; those of who worked in the theater weren't frisked, but had to be proven to be authorized by our teacher before we could enter the stage.

One of my friends accidentally dropped one of those very heavy pounds weights used to counterbalance curtains - big boom sound, and holy hell, you'd think it was dog day afternoon.

Yeah, you can bet that stadium was the safest place to be.
