Saturday afternoon, raining outside and bored..
So I decided to crunch some numbers.. if it were hypothetically possible to drive across the solar system, at the standard 60 miles per hour, in shifts so the vehicle was driven 24 hours per day.. how long would it take to reach certain destinations?

Moon - Avg Distance - 238,857 miles. 3,980 hours, or 165 days.
Mars - Avg Distance - 141,632,976 mi. 2,360,549 hours, or 98,356 days. (269 years)
Jupiter - Avg Distance - 483,110,000 mi. 8,051,833 hours, or 335.493 days (919 years)
Pluto - Avg Distance - 3,670,060,865 mi. 61,167,681 hours, or 2,548,643 days (6982 years)
Whew.. I better pack a big damned cooler.

2. Sorry you didn't get more of a "play" out of this post, Opiate69.
Your figures just make me feel small and insignificant on this little piece of sand we call earth. That's a good thing, I think. Especially for a Sunday morning.

Thanks for posting, from Radio Lady in Oregon (where it's still Saturday night).

3. Eh.. no worries, Radio Lady..
I've always been a fairly low-profile kinda guy around here.. some of those distances/numbers are just unfathomable, though, eh? (Also, I really enjoyed your posts from Europe.. *sigh* one of these days.. ) happy saturday from your northern neighbor (Olympia, Wash.)
:hi:

4. Hi, Neighbor... One of these days, I'm going to visit Olympia, Washington...
instead of just driving by in a hurry.

warmly,

Radio Lady, just to the south over the WA-OR border, and slightly west of you....
