i like the smell of diesel exhaust
reminds me of when my grandmother would take us downtown to go to marshall fields on state street and then lunch at woolworths or some greasy diner on wells or van buren.

2. Same here.
Memories of taking the bus to downtown Atlanta when I was growing up there. We'd go to Rich's (dept. store) and have lunch, then on to as many shops as we could after that. :) Good times...

3. I guess diesel exhaust reminds most of us of taking the bus downtown
My Mom took me shopping in Downtown Bridgeport on the bus all the time. Nice memories to have!

5. My mother and I would take the Clark Street bus downtown.
We usually had lunch in the Circle Tearoom in the Charles A. Stevens store on State Street, on the east side and next to Wieboldt's between Washington and Madison.

After I was about 13, I was allowed to go downtown with friends and later by myself. Always ran into someone I knew. That was really bizarre.
