6. One of my cats once ate a centipede.
He stalked it, pinned it down with his paw and then crunched it up and ate it, wiggly little legs and all.

:puke:

9. This cat I had when I was a kid nailed a huge spider in the driveway.
She slapped her paw right on top of it, you could see nothing but eight spider legs flattened, sticking out from under. She curled her paw with the spider wedged to it and whipped it into her mouth. Bing bang boom.

8. I was just ouside for a cig....
...and one of the street cats has brought me a "present"
and left it at the front door.

It might well be the biggest mouse I've ever seen- at first glance,
I thought it was a small rat.

11. Well, I guess you know where you stand in his opinion!
From my POV, it was nice of him to dispose of it himself.

I have to remove the mouse on the porch...but I have to wait
until the cat isn't hanging around, so his feelings aren't
hurt by seeing me throw it away.

Like I don't have stress enough, now I have to worry about
not offending a cat!

:silly:

12. Just wait 'til she vomits it back up in your bed or something.
That's what *my* cat would feel compelled to do.

14. the cat upstairs just left a large dead rat in my stairwell
And she's not even my cat! She seems to have fixated on me because I sometimes give her treats. And to make matters worse, my landlady (who owns the cat) is jealous or something, and not only blamed me for this ... but demanded that I wrap up the rat and take it to a public dumpster 2 blocks away, because she doesn't want it "sitting around in the garbage".

I wish she (the cat, not my landlady) would just eat the rat without any fanfare, because that would make my life a lot easier.

16. That was a prize for you
for giving her treats! That's why she (the cat) didn't eat it.

Lucky you. :)

15. Are you sure it wasn't a praying mantis? Not that I expect your cat to throw
up the remains....but those things can put up quite a fight ( we used to have tons of them in my grandmothers backyard )

18. My cat brought me a roach once. I'm pathologically terrified of roaches
I got swarmed once as a kid by roaches (the downside of living on the Mississippi Coast below the poverty line in a house with large gaps between the floors and walls). Been terrified ever since. So my cat (yes, Minnie, for those who know the picture) jumped on my lap once, smiled at me as though telling me she was about to give me a special gift, and dropped a roach into my lap. She didn't understand the horrified screaming, but she was sweet enough to pounce on the creature and devour it, once my gyrations had dislodged it from my lap and flung it halfway across the room. She's never done that again.

So maybe the way to teach your cat not to bring you such things is to shriek like a terrified child while jumping manicly then curling into a small ball while sobbing. If nothing else, it gives your kids something to laugh at for years to come.
