BAY CITY -- A 7-year-old boy who once saw his dream of getting into the Guinness World Records deferred says he now has earned his way into the fabled book with a giant ball of plastic wrap.
Jake Lonsway of Bay County's Bangor Township had the ball weighed Thursday at a honey farm in St. Charles. He sought to break the current world record of 250 pounds. In the end, the scale read 281.5 pounds.
"I was probably expecting it to be the record," the incoming second-grader told The Bay City Times.
If confirmed by Guinness, his feat will have broken the record established in 2005 by Andy Martell of Toronto. Martell's ball measured 128 inches in circumference; Jake's measured 138 inches.
