WASHINGTON, DC—At a Monday press conference, U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced a "change of plans" for the $87.5 billion aid package Congress approved in October: Instead of being used to fund an array of military and reconstruction operations in the Middle East, the money will be divided equally among Iraq's 24,683,313 citizens.http://www.theonion.com/4002/top_story.html(Satire)

1. It would probably work just as well |
|
...except that it wouldn't get funneled back into US corporate profits.

Can you imagine? The average wage for the 10% of Iraqis who are actually employed is about $20/month. You wanna talk about winning friends and influencing people? Give everyone in the country 10 years salary for free.

When everyone is equally better off, nobody is better off.
If everyone in the USA got an instant 500% raise, prices of everything would increase by 500% within 24 hours.
