When Moore took several Americans who couldn't get help in America including three 911 rescue workers to Cuba and they actually were seen and treated for free...It really made me angry.
One lady(a 9/11 rescue worker)who paid 120 bucks for medicine in the good ol USA received the same medicine for 5 cents in Cuba.

I just need to carve out some time between baby feedings, work, school, etc. It's funny because we were talking about it the other day at work, and someone commented, "Great. Michael Moore. Another movie about George Bush." It struck me just how appropriate that title would be for a movie about GW.

4. It wasn't a movie about Bush

so much as it's a movie about corporate greed, rewarding those who deny care and how our elected officials have all been bought. Yes, Hillary has received the second largest insurance lobby contribution. The largest went to a Republican. How times have changed.

3. I saw it last night * possible spoilers* !

they had a sneak preview in Columbus. Others were laughing at the end about how witty and brilliant Moore was. HELLO?? This is a tragedy! I had to fight back the tears through most of the movie.

And you know what else hurt? Calling my daughter and telling her that if she wants a life that can truly be hers and not worry about losing everything you've ever worked for if you have a catastrophic illness, plan on moving to the UK, France or Canada and build your life there. There is no excuse for a couple who'd worked hard their entire lives and ended up in their daughter's basement bedroom after they lost EVERYTHING to his heart attacks and her cancer.

The few bright spots? The 9/11 workers being treated and hearing the British gentleman say if you can find money to have a war, you can find money to provide basic healthcare for your people. It's that simple. Oh, and hook-a-canuk.com if you wanted to marry a Canadian for health benefits. ;)

5. I've seen it...

...I got an *ahem* Less than legal copy of it.*ahem* It pissed me off; especially about the 9/11 workers. Their health care should be free, no questions asked. :grr: I think it's going to be a hit.

My husband uses 2 different inhalers for his condition. Their combined cost? 250 dollars. Guess how often he gets his inhalers refilled...

It made me angry too. And very sad. I am saddened by the way our 'government' officials have sold us down the river. It's all about the money and innocent people die because of it. The people who weild power over us have complete power. The power of life and death.

I don't think free is the answer, but we spend more per person on health care in this country than any other country in the world and we get less per person for our money than any other country in the world.

So much for the "market" equalizing things and giving us affordable and accessible health care.

It's time for an enema for our health care system and it ain't gonna be pretty, but it is held together with band aids as it is and there are fixtures of that system that are on the verge of collapse, while other parts of it are making out like bandits.

It doesn't work.

Haven't seen the movie yet but plan to.

9. Free is the answer actually

Not free as we pay nothing but free as in our tax dollars are spent more wisely.

But we turn our own citizens away from desperatly needed Healthcare because Insurance doesn't want to pay for it.

i can see how an immediate snap to full coverage health care could cause major problems for the health care industry (meaning the firing of nurses, doctors, etc). I would rather see a slow slide to it, over 10-15 years

15. I think just restructuring the healthcare system would work

In the movie they showed a doctor in France who lives in a 1 million dollar home Makes 200,000 a year and drives a nice Audi.
Yet he never has to worry about rather his Patients can pay.As a matter of fact the healthier his patients are the more money he makes.
I am not saying do it tomorrow but 15 years is way to long.I would feel better over 5 years or even less.
I believe it can be done without the loss of a single healthcare providers job.
Now the Insurance industry will go belly up..For some reason that doesn't bother me.

I think there will ultimately be more jobs for healthcare providers since everyone will be able to get the care they need. We'll need more doctors, nurses, dentists, physical therapists, Xray techs, etc.
True..the health insurance companies will suffer a major blow..but many also provide life and car insurance. That won't go away.

the idea I espoused is essentially what you are talking about

we spend more on health care and get less from our bucks than any other country

for much less than we spend on our personal health insurance, or employers spend on it, we could cover everyone in this country easily enough.

Yes weapons are insanely expensive and we are ripped off badly by them.

I want to see the movie and I am totally for universal health care.

13. I was lucky enough to attend the DC premiere last week.

Michael Moore spoke to the audience. Kucinich, Conyers and others were there. I only wish the theatre was full of repugs. I still can't stop thinking about what a mess we've made of our health care system.
Watching the movie, I kept thinking "what would it feel like to never have to worry about the cost of of a dr. visit, a dental visit, a prescription, an operation..again?" I can't even imagine it. Profound movie!
