And the best thing you've ever done for me
Is to help me take my life less seriously
Its only life after all

3. ah, Indigo Girls
hmmm

Maybe there's no haven in this world for tender age
My heart beat like the wings of wild birds in a cage
My greatest hope my greatest cause to grieve
And my heart flew from its cage and it bled upon my sleeve
The cries of passion were like wounds that needed healing
I couldn't hear them for the thunder
I was half the naked distance between hell and heaven's ceiling
And he almost pulled me under

14. good lyric!
I liked that!
here's one -

I was young but I wasn't naive
I watched helpless as he turned around to leave
and still I have the pain I have to carry
a past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried

(blind - lifehouse)

There's no comprehending

just how close to the bones

and the skin

and the eyes

and the lips

you can get

and still feel so alone....

36. And a few more....
"You are in my blood like holy wine,
and you taste so bitter,
but you taste so sweet,

And I can drink a case of you, Darlin', I can drink a case of you,
and still I'd be on my feet, I'd still be on my feet.

4. My dear Fuzz....
By Billy Joel.....

Lullabye (Goodnight my angel)

...I think I know what you've been asking me

I think you know what I've been trying to say

I promised I would never leave you

And you should always know

Wherever you may go

No matter where you are

I never will be far away...

5. Meanwhile back in the year One
--- when you belonged to no-one ---
you didn't stand a chance son, if your pants were undone.
`Cause you were bred for humanity and sold to society ---
one day you'll wake up in the Present Day ---
a million generations removed from expectations
of being who you really want to be.

7. It's not a song, but your post made me think of:
When the bells justle in the tower
The hollow night amid,
Then on my tongue the taste is sour
Of all I ever did.

11. You have inspired me to get the AE Housman collection
if there is one. I ran across't (ok sp) a poem of his whilst reading a book about 2 yrs ago. It really struck me, and I wrote it down and promptly lost it amonst all my other clutter.

But that excerpt you just threw in made me realize that I need to get a collection. I have found that in the past 20 or so yrs that I don't relate to a lot of the poetry I read (subscriber to NewYOrker, etc). I figured that it was that I don't get stoned anymore.

Well, anyways, since I can't give you any details on my long-lost poem, I will just go onto Amazon and see what i can see!

that we never even existed.' Sage Francis. I love that line, don't ask me why!

And also from Sage Francis...

Cause my Uzi weighs a ton
And I never let go of the handle'

and
'I spread my love like the legs of a crack whore.'

Hell, Sage has got a million of em :D

"Can you tell me where my country lies?"
Said the Unifaun to his true love's eyes
"It lies with me!" cried the Queen Of Maybe
-for her merchandise, he traded in his prize

I hope he never lets me down again.

Promises me I'm safe as houses
As long as I remember who's wearing the trousers.

I hope he never lets me down again.

We're flying high
We're watching the world pass us by
Never want to come down
Never want to put my feet back down on the ground.

21. Clampdown
What are we gonna do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
'Cause they're working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
To be young believers

The judge said five to ten-but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

You grow up and you calm down
You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown
You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
You drift until you brutalize
You made your first kill now

In these days of evil presidentes
Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
For working for the clampdown
But ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!

And I've given away no secrets
Who's barmy now?

31. WAY too many to easily chose from. However...
Silver Ships
Golden Earring

Way beyond the horizon of the universe
A silver light shines on me
And way beyond my thoughts
What could there be?
The silver light flies faster than at first
And I don't know what it will bring
And I don't know what it may be
And when it falls through the starry sky
I know it falls for me

Silver ships won't you come on down?
You can land, all is clear
Can't you hear? I'm here!

Way beyond the horizon of the universe
Space ships are speeding fast
And don't you know they have watched
us for a thousand years
And don't you know we'll die at last
No solution for Mother Earth
Only confusion for the earthly herd
And when it falls through the starry sky
Who knows what life is worth?

Silver ships won't you come on down?
You can land, all is clear
Can't you hear? I'm here!
