51. I was once eating a large soft shell crab outside a club while talking to a friend...
it was night and pretty dark, so my friend wasn't aware of what I was eating. Then a passing car illuminated us and Kip saw what I was munching on. His reaction?
"Fuck man! What in the hell do you have in your mouth???!!!"

Needless to say, he turned down my offer of a bite.
Good. More for me :)

I liked it much better than plain lobster.

Do they actually eat those in New England, or
is that just a marketing ploy at seafood restaurants
in other areas?

Steamers for me -- nearly impossible to get out here although there is one crazy former MA guy who has opened up a "New England style lobster shack" restaurant. They serve steamers allegedly. They also serve lobster rolls on the proper Maine style top loader bun AND they toast the outside.

28. They're pretty damn good, aren't they.
My mom didn't think she liked them (she's never actually tasted one), so she never cooked them when my sister and I were growing up. When I finally tried them, I actually bitched to her the next I talked to her, demanding to know how she could deprive us of something so good. "OMG, why did you never cook scallops for us?" Apparently my sister had done the same thing a few weeks earlier ("what is it with you and your sister and scallops???")--she loves 'em, too, but we still can't get mom to try scallops.

Otherwise, possibly fried. In a po'boy? And Oyster Dressing for the holidays.

Here on the Gulf Coast, shrimp & crab are also fresh & popular.

I don't like seafood and I especially hate shellfish--all slimy and rubbery. Gross. I do like clam chowder, but I try to avoid the actual clams because I hate the texture so much. Oh, and I like calamari if it's prepared properly. Especially--oddly enough--the tentacles. And I like coconut shrimp at Outback Steakhouse, so... I guess shrimp? But only coconut shrimp.

(I was watching Good Eats one night and it was the lobster episode, and Alton Brown said something to the effect of, 9 out of 10 people would say their favorite food is lobster, or at least it would be in the top ten. I'd be the tenth person. I've never liked lobster or crab.)
