all dressed up as - well something. I'm too old to know just what this is.
Guy has a really long mohawk - hair standing straight up about six inches. Girl with lots of dark make-up. Shorts and really high heels.
Makes me remember what I was like at that age. We used to go to such great lengths to be outrageous. And it was so much fun.

And what was funny about it was we were all trying to be outrageous and "different" but we all looked like carbon copies of each other.

2. Good for those kids, showing some iconoclastic spirit. I'd not find their get-up to be |
|
partcularyl attractive, but like you, I'd find it refreshing.

But what was really great was that the kid with the mohawk standing straight up for 6 inches was dressed in completely straight clothes. And he was blond and had glasses on - he was completely straight except for his hair. I thought that was really clever.
I like to see kids go for it at that age. Then you get older and have to go to work and you can never have that kind of fun with your looks again.

9. Now its all tatoos and body art. |
|
But that has gotten so old hat.
The kids need to think of something different - something really cool.

There was a time in the 80s or early 90s when mohawks were popular with the boys playing junior and senior high sports. One of my nephews decided to go along with his teams and got the hairdo, then went home to surprise his parents.
His mother's reaction was priceless: "John, you don't have to fake being a Indian. You are one and our tribe doesn't do mohawks. "

7. We used to braid our long hair and then take it out so it stuck out |
|
all over. And we wnet out with it that way. And people stared at us.
Course we were hippies in Salt Lake City in 1968 - didn't take too much to make people stare.
We just had the best time!
You go kids. Be outrageous! I just love it.

Indian hair makes for a lot better mohawks than caucasion hair. Getting blond hiar into a six inch mohawk really takes a lot of doing.

13. Another kick and more cudos to the teens for bucking the system. |
|
Conformity is so damned scary. Although, as my teenage daughter likes to point out, individuality is getting rather stereotypical these days.
