First time living on my own........
in well over 20 years. It's quite a shock in a way, but something I can really get into, in a healing sort of way.

1. Take the time to gather your thoughts and do all those things for yourself
that are true rewards.

Take care!

2. Thank you and I most certainly will.

I need to recharge myself. It's been very draining to me.

5. .
You and I talked about this stuff three years ago when I was going through my divorce. I know you've been unhappy for a long time and I'm proud of you for having the courage to move forward. It's difficult and painful, but a new life is waiting.

8. Damn, has it been that long ago?
Yes we sure did talk about this all. Somebody recently described my mood of that of being shell-shocked, of having it actually happen, and the finality of it all. Thank you Sarah. Eveyone has got to get to their own point of no return in their own way, and I felt it was time for me.

6. I'm on my own for the first time ever
since February, anyway.

Before this, I've always had parents, or a roommate, or my son.

Now, it's just me and the cats.

Most days, I'm convinced it's the best thing I've ever done.

Sometimes I get a little lonely, but I'm ok with that.

9. Yes, I'm glad you're on your own too.
It is the best thing I've ever done, even with all the conflicting emotions involved. I just couldn't stay in that marriage. It was slowly killing my spirit, and slowly killing me. Now's just time to decompress and get ready for the lawyers.

13. It'll be ok... I promise
I can't promise it will be easy, but it'll be okay.

I got my sister a card once that read "everything will be ok in the end. if it's not ok, it's not the end."

7. You'll do fine.
Now you have an excuse to walk around the place naked, drink milk out of the carton and stick your finger in the peanut butter jar.

Did I mention the naked bit? Yeah-you can sit in your living room and read while nude, eat nude, nude housekeeping, etc.

11. Thanks xmas74.
Yeah, I've done the naked bit almost everyday, the peanut butter jar stuff, along with chocolate and cream-cheese frosting cravings.
Naked around the house is nice.......freeing in a lot of ways.

19. And you can leave the house anytime you feel like
without having to tell someone where you are going.

20. That's right I can.
And come back when I want to. The shell-shocked feeling is fading away. I am liking this a lot. :)

10. Are you renting?
If so, be sure to get renter's insurance to cover your belongings.

12. Yes I am and thanks for the tip.
I'm going to the insurance office this afternoon to split up the auto insurance policies to mine and hers and get rental insurance for me.

:)

21. In some states,
things like insurance cannot be changed until a court order. Check it out before doing anything. Do separate your monies, though.

22. When I talked to the agent yesterday,
I could split the auto policies up right now, which I did. But the homeowner's insurance will have to wait until the divorce. At least that's my understanding.

14. ...

Take things slowly. You'll find your own routine and find that you dislike anyone disrupting it. ;)

All the best to you. You're gonna be just fine.

Thank you lizzie. :)

17. Sounds like a big transition
If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, please make sure you don't let yourself get isolated. Make sure you're getting out and around other people regularly.

 Wishing you happiness.

18. Yes it's a very big transition.
I'll get myself out and about eventually. Home life was so draining at times that I just have to take time and recharge first.
