1. One does get the sense that they consider themselves...
quite precious.

I've resisted tatoo mania so far, but it's good to know where not to go if I change my mind.

What was your experience at Miami Ink?

4. Experience:
Went to check out the flash boards and get an estimate on the work I wanted done.

"Artists" either smoking outside the shop or huddled around the reception desk bullshitting.

The Receptionist and guys hanging around his station seemed pissed off that I would interrupt them to ask to see their flash.

Their stock flash is shit.

The shop was filthy: Dirty floors, debris built up in the corners, overflowing garbage cans.

Described what I wanted to one of the guys and asked for a price. He said he would work something up.

Went to the mens room. It was fucking disgusting. No toilet paper, no paper towels, trash everywhere, and the sink had been puked in and allowed to dry leaving only chunks.

The toilet had not been cleaned in weeks and not flushed after the last several uses.

I left the facility without using it.

As I walked toward the exit, the guy working on the quote said it was ready. I thanked him and told him I had changed my mind.

6. I think you made the right choice....
I'd be worried that their sloppiness carried over to needle hygiene and such.

Plus, why support a business that treats its customers rudely?

10. "Their stock flash is shit."
It usually is.

Sounds like an awful experience though.

2. that shop was their second choice
their first choice was the guy we went to in Tampa. He knows the owners of Miami Ink. Says the owner is an ass.

he turned down TLC because he says he is an artist and doesn't want drama around his shop.

9. They are parts I really enjoyed like the Art Deco district and Espanola Way.
Most of it did suck however.

11. Miami is not part of the South
The real South ends in about the middle of the state. South Florida is a separate entity. The South that I know and love certainly doesn't want it.

12. I thought of going there when Kat Von D was there.
Thankfully, she is going to have her own shop and is starting the show LA Ink.

Ami just does not come off as a nice guy on Miami Ink. It doesn't surprise me a bit that his shop is like that.

I'm sorry you had that experience.
