They're killing YAKS at the Denver Stock Show!
In today's Denver Post full-page yak spread:

John Hooper of Minnesota, aka "Yakman", first person in North America to train and ride a yak (closing the Tibet-U.S. yak rider gap), wears self-made yak hair hat.

Stock Show holds seminars on yak meat, yak hair, and yak breeding; also has first-ever yak halter show.

Visitors ate samples of yak burgers and bought yak steaks & yak jerky.
Comments included: "Doesn't taste like chicken", "Once you go yak you never come back."

Jerry McRoberts, owner of a 1000-head yak herd in Nebraska, "started raising yaks for yuks" and says "Yak meat could gain poplularity in the wake of Mad Cow Disease."

I SAY - NO YAKS FOR MAD COWS! Stop the insanity!

1. "No one stood up when they came for the yaks"
Who will stand up when they come for your dogs, cats, and lemurs?

2. here's part of a song; should add yaks in there somewhere
Put on your ten-gallon hat
Boots and jeans is where it’s at
You got nowhere else to go
So come with me and we’ll all go to the stock show

There’s critters that squeal and critters that buck
Critters that come in pickup trucks
Doggone critters ever’where you go
They can freeze dry your dog, they even judge cocks at the stock show

Stock Show, it’s the National Western
Stock Show, it’s the biggest and the best durn
Rosin up your fiddle and throw away the bow
It’s a cowtown hoedown, everyone’s down at the stock show
Promenade and dosey doe
Swing your partner, everyone’s down at the stock show

3. LOL - I live in Denver and
never heard that one.

The "Queen City"(?) is often referred to as an overgrown cowtown.

5. I'm a denverite too
I wrote that song (there's more to it) in the mid-80's. My old band used to play it. I think it's too bad that Denver has kind of disowned its designation as "Cowtown."
