OMG! Jerk at my gym just asked if they could ban gays!

One of the trainers said a guy asked if they could ban gays there because he's uncomfortable in the locker room & feels them checking him out while he's working out. Says his renewal is coming up & the gym shoudl seriously consider changing rules.Says ALOT of his friends agree w/him & they will not renew their membership if they don't ban them.

I saw red all the way home.The trainer shook his head & said he couldn't say what he wanted.IMO, Bush has made it hip to freepers to hate gays.I am so mad right now, this has ruined my weekend!

I don't care what anyone on this board or anywhere else says. Goddamnit the president sets the tone and the climate for so many things in this country. No matter how much I may have disagreed with Clinton or how much we may hate corporatism or militarization, I'm sorry that doesn't trump the fact that the bottom line was that for most of the 90's with a democrat in power, there was a much friendlier climate both for gays, minorities and women. Were things equal or as good as they SHOULD have been? No. I'm not naive enough to say that with a straight face. Even then we had light years to go and miles before we could sleep. But compared to now where anti woman and anti gay and anti minority thought is de rigeur again , the 90's were practically the second age of enlightenment.

Which is why whatever my thoughts are on the eventual nominees stance on Iraq, or their perceived temper or their demeanor or their inexperience or their previous votes for republicans. No matter how much any of that stuff may matter to me, it doesn't trump the way that bush has turned the clock back on the most progessive aspects of this country: how we treat women, how we treat gays, and how we treat minorities. I'm not willing for one single solitary split second going to put anything above that. And no matter what you say, any single one of our nominees INCLUDING Leiberman will be better than what we have now.

Sorry for this rant but this stuff just sickens me and I blame Bush 110%.

And it's a pattern...this Administration is anti-woman, anti-African-American. This adminstration has made it quite clear that only straight, white men matter. This administration has declared war on gays, women and minorities.

I don't a flying fuck, quite frankly, about Iraq. We got rid of Saddam. So what? That does NOT affect gay people in this country. That does NOT affect women in this country. That does NOT affect minorties in this country. We have a White House who has divided this country as never before.

Back in the early '90s, when I first began to put on weight, I decided to join a gym. On occasion, I noticed another guy or two looking in my direction for more than a brief moment. But it didn't bother me. If anything, I took it as a compliment!

I recall one time when I was in the hot tub and told my father (who also belonged to the gym), "Think I'm going to get some supper."

From the other side of the tub, I heard a man ask the guy next to him, "Wouldn't you like to *be* it?"

As I climbed out of the tub, I wiggled my ass a couple of times for their benefit. When I looked back at the two men, they were gawking up at me in (dare I say it?) shock and awe. I gave them my sweetest smile and waved goodbye.
